We can’t get enough of this super-cool celebration! Real bride Sarah reveals all about her chic wedding…
How did Lee propose?
“Lee took Norma (our Boston Terrier) and I away for a long weekend in the beautiful Cotswolds. Marriage was never much of a priority for either of us so I was probably more shocked than most when Lee proposed on the terrace overlooking the gardens. Once I got over the shock, the tears & the enormity of what he had just inadvertently slipped into our conversation, I remembered I should say yes. It was a low-key proposal but perfectly timed and very ‘us’.”
What dress did you wear?
“I knew I wanted a British designer and did bucket loads of research before I even thought about visiting any boutiques. My only prerequisites were simple, unconventional and texture, texture, texture. I took my mum to White Closet in Manchester, and when I saw her face when I tried on the Charlie Brear Payton dress & feather Piora skirt, I knew it was the right one for me. Teamed with a gold leather Charlie Brear belt I was in alternative wedding dress heaven!”
What did Lee wear?
“Lee loves tailoring and clothes in general so we discussed colours and then I left him to it. Three appointments at The Vintage Suit Hire Company later, he and my dad had suits tailor made in blue tweed.“
Who were your bridesmaids and where were their dresses from?
“I knew I didn’t want a big bridal party so I was chuffed to bits when my longest serving friend, Catherine, and her gorgeous daughter Ellie agreed to be a part of the wedding. My only stipulation for their dresses was the colour and length, other than that they had free reign. It was more important to me that they were happy and comfortable above any whim I might have. They chose Sorella Vita dresses from Joys Bella Bridesmaids near York.“
What was your theme?
“The best way I could describe the style we were aiming to achieve would be a ‘done but un-done wedding’ inspired by everything we love individually and as a couple – interior design, typography, neon, puns, taxidermy, informal, relaxed, understated style with a touch of Game of Thrones thrown in!“
