If you’re looking for ideas for your wedding stationery, Love Invited have plenty to inspire you. From the latest trends of Vellum and wax seals, to Change the Date stationery…
Here, Amanda Williams from Love Invited discusses how Vellum and wax seals can be used to transform your wedding stationery designs. Plus she’s come up with ways to update your guests if you’ve had to postpone your special day.
This wonderful paper can be customised in many different ways and will give a truly unique twist on wedding stationery. Not only can you print on it, but fold it, layer it or place calligraphy on it – it is so versatile!
Its versatility means it’s also great for other stationery items, such as place cards, menus, or table seating plans, which are just some of the many ways in which our couples have chosen to work with this paper.
To get a really strong and luxurious look, we’d advise pairing vellum paper with another colour, pattern, or textile.
Vellum as an overlay
Words, patters or images can all be printed onto the vellum and used as an overlay to other paper stationery, for example, the main wedding invitation.
If wedding stationery has been designed with very bright colours, then the vellum overlay can be used to balance this out. Conversely a bright image or pattern can be printed onto vellum and used as an overlay to complement a more muted invite.
Envelopes and Wraps
A vellum envelope will give guests just a hint at what’s underneath and makes a wonderfully luxurious way to send invites, especially if finished with a wax seal. Alternatively, a more cost-effective way would be to use the vellum to wrap multiple pieces of stationery together.
As already mentioned, vellum does not have to start and end with the invite, our couples have used vellum for place names using both print and calligraphy, and also for table seating plans and menus, to name just a few options.
Adding a wax seal to stationery is guaranteed to make a statement of luxury to any couple’s wedding stationery, and it complements the vellum perfectly.
The stamp can be customised specifically for the couple – from a monogram of entwined initials, to a crest or even an emblem, such as favourite flowers.
The colour of wax should be chosen to complement the stationery and additional elements can also be added in, such as laying the seal over a ribbon or some foliage. The seal can also be made in different sizes and shapes.
