A stunning celebration overseas in glorious sunshine. Bride Carly shares the story of her greek wedding…
How did Scott propose?
“It was my birthday on 29th December 2016. I had just walked in from a 12-hour night shift. As I went to walk upstairs, I noticed Scott’s legs in the living room. He was sat in the dark! I turned around to switch the light on and when I turned back he shouted: “Happy birthday, will you marry me?”
What dress did you wear?
“My dress was by Ronald Joyce. It was beautiful, heavily beaded and so flattering. I plan to make it into a christening outfit one day. I bought it from Boutique Brides of Crosby.”
What did Scott wear?
“Scott wore navy linen material trousers and a matching waistcoat, finished with a white shirt and
black shoes purchased from Slaters Menswear in Liverpool Town centre. His lemon silk tie was purchased from tiesplanet.com.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“At first I felt guilty for being 30 minutes late and him being stood in 37 degree heat the whole time, then an overall sense of anxiety came over me. Our moment was finally here!”
Who were your bridesmaids and where were their dresses from?
“I had eight bridesmaids: my two sisters, Paige and Faith, sister-in-Law Emma, our niece Sophia and my best friends Shelley, Natalie, Nikki and Dayna. I also had two pageboys – my little brothers Luke and Nicholas. The dresses were purchased from ASOS. I thought they were perfect for a wedding abroad. The pageboy suits were from Next.”
What was your theme?
“We didn’t have a theme so to say. The location said it all, and the backdrop behind the top table was just amazing. However, we did enhance the surroundings with lots of fresh flowers, lanterns and fairy lights. It was just magical!”
What was the highlight of your day?
“The whole evening was just amazing and went so fast. But I think the highlight was the dancefloor when the saxophonist was playing.”
What was your best buy?
“I loved all the little touches, in particular the ring security case, fairytale book ring holder and my bouquet charm allowing my loved ones sadly no longer with us to accompany me down the aisle.”
What’s your saving tip?
“Start early and shop around! Also consider what you can make yourself. I made our own favours, which saved a fortune. Make lists and work through them methodically. At the end of the day, it’s your special day and you’ll want it to be memorable.”
