We just had to share this beautiful photoshoot inspired by the Victorian era. Find instant inspiration for a chic wedding theme here…
This incredible ‘Victorian Dream’ shoot was birthed from the inspiration of the Victorian era, taking influences from their fashion, styling, décor and venues. In particular, the shoot took bridal styling inspiration from the award-winning Australian classic, ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’. The film took the world by storm, moreover the relaxed, feminine and innocent Victorian fashion from the film created a ripple effect in the fashion industry. World-class designers and fashion houses embraced the signature white dress style, taking over many influential runways.
Reining in on this signature Victorian innocent white dress look, the suppliers created a shoot that embraces this very concep. You’ll notice the signature Victorian high necklines, bell sleeves, lace and frill details in the bridal gowns. In this shoot the bride is photographed wearing a Swarovski detailed bridal gown by Jason Grech and her second gown being an angel winged gown by L’ETO Bridal.
As for the groom, the shoot took to the impeccable tailoring of the Victorian Era. The styling focused on the preppy styles and colours, much like what you would expect from the Great Gatsby. The groom is photographed wearing a vintage custom-made green tartan jacket and for his second look he shows off a statement pin-striped burgundy jacket, with matching vest and bow tie.
The wedding and reception venue make all the difference when setting the scene for this stunning theme. Held in the heritage-listed Rippon Lea Estate, the shoot utilised the mansion for the indoor scenes (drawing room and conservatory) and reception (entertainment swimming pool area), and the estate’s private gardens and lake for the romantic picnic scene in the sunset.
In order to create the dreamy Victorian aesthetic, the shoot includes vintage décor and styling details including antique books, quill, deckled letter paper, picnic basket, wide-brim hat, vintage style jewellery, lush black velvet ribbon, lace parasol, antique brush and mirrors, traditional horse carriage, daisies and baby’s-breath florals, fine-china and traditional Victorian afternoon-tea catering.
