Heading on your honeymoon soon? Here are some top tips on packing your honeymoon makeup bag from Hairtrade.com!
Are you jetting off on your honeymoon soon? Don’t get stung by the luggage limit by overpacking your toiletries and beauty bag! Online hair and beauty retailer Hairtrade.com have put together some top tips to help you minimally pack your honeymoon makeup bag so it’s suitcase-ready.
Use 3-in-1 facial makeup
Purchase and pack a 3-in-1 product that’s a foundation, primer and face serum all in one. These types of products will save you having to pack each item separately, making it perfect for your holiday beauty bag. You could also try a CC cream or tinted moisturiser if you prefer not to use a foundation during your getaway.
Swap your sunscreen and body lotion for an SPF oil
A hydrating and nourishing sunscreen oil with the necessary SPF will be far lighter than packing both body lotion and a bottle of sunscreen. A two in one product will leave your skin both hydrated and protected and will save you the heaviness of carrying both products individually.
Pack illuminating cream products
Liquid illuminators are a great holiday essential, as they give you a dewy look that compliments your tan perfectly. Pack a cappuccino-coloured illuminator, as this can be used as a bronzer, highlighter and eye shadow, which will make your beauty bag a lot lighter. You’re also a lot less likely to sweat off creamy makeup products as well, which makes them even more of a bonus when out in the heat.
Don’t put a huge eye shadow palette in your suitcase
Huge eyeshadow palettes will take up unnecessary space in your travel bag, and by packing your favourite one you will also be at high risk of smashing it in your suitcase. Instead, pack a compact eye shadow palette that contains a mix of neutral and matte shades. For an even lighter beauty bag, you could also try purchasing one which has a brown/black matte tone which you can use for your eyebrows, to save you having to pack your eyebrow kit as well.
Use travel-sized makeup brushes
Instead of packing all your makeup brushes in your suitcase, take a couple of travel-sized brushes with you that you can use with multiple products. Pack a travel-sized foundation or stippling brush for your foundation and liquid illuminator, a powder/blush brush for bronzer/powder and one eyeshadow brush for eye makeup. If you prefer using blending sponges to brushes for foundation, be sure to pack one as you can use these for multiple products and they weigh far less than a brush.
Always pack a mini hair treatment
Whilst the sun might do wonders for your hair, always make sure you pack a mini argan oil treatment or oil-care treatment to keep your locks feeling soft and luxurious.
To entirely downsize your travel hair and beauty bag, make sure you use travel-sized everything. This includes shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, moisturiser etc. Make sure nothing you take is over 100ml, as this will cause unnecessary weight in your luggage. If you don’t want to buy new travel-sized products, save money by putting your products into smaller bottles.
Pack one lipstick or gloss
Avoid packing a tonne of lipsticks and glosses that you might not even wear on your holiday, and instead, pack just one single lippy or gloss that will go with all your outfits. A bright red colour will add an extra touch of glamour to your evening looks, and will also compliment your tan perfectly. If red just isn’t the colour for you, try a Summery orange or a flattering nude tone.
Use multi-purpose products
The perfect way to downsize your travel beauty bag is to either wear fewer makeup products or use multi-purpose ones. Some brands offer chubby makeup sticks which you can use as a blush, eyeshadow and a lipstick. Sort through your makeup bag before your flight to work out if there’s anything you could multi-use and anything that you don’t really need to take.
