Real bride Issy shares the details of her beautiful, personalised wedding, five days before Christmas…
How did Alex propose?
“He proposed on a moonlit beach in Barbados in October 2019. He had been trying to find a secluded spot on the beach for hours but we kept being interrupted. I had no idea it was coming. It was magical.”
What dress did you wear?
“I went to Le Spose Di Gio and explained I only had 6 weeks until the wedding day. Miraculously they said they’d be able to have one made to order in that time. I found one that, with a few alterations, was perfect.“
And the accessories?
“I wore very few accessories. Just some pearl earrings bought for me by Alex from Tiffany & Co, a handmade hair brooch from Mirror Mirror in London and a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes from Selfridges. Although, it was so muddy outside that I ended up wearing the photographer’s wife’s wellies for most of the photos!”
What did Alex wear?
“Alex wore his Irvine family tartan kilt with a tweed waistcoat and jacket,
Russell & Bromley oxfords, shirt & tie from Charles Tyrwhitt and an antique mother of pearl tie pin.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“When I saw him up the aisle I was so nervous and excited. My heart was beating so quickly and I couldn’t wait to marry him. The venue looked amazing with a huge open fire burning behind him and flowers everywhere! It could not have been more beautiful.”
Who were your bridesmaids and where were their dresses from?
“I had five bridesmaids. My sister Anna was my maid of honour, my younger sister and friends Liv, Steff and Kristy were bridesmaids. Their dresses were from Maids To Measure in Fulham and were adjusted to fit them. My younger sister had a different dress from JJ’s House.”
What was your theme?
“We didn’t have a theme so to speak. We got married five days before Christmas in a beautiful barn in the Cotswolds. It was very ‘wintery’. We had lots of candles, flowers and foliage everywhere. The colour scheme was white and blue. Blue thistles for Alex to represent his family’s coat of arms and white roses to represent me all pulled together.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“My highlight has to be the ceremony. It was so beautiful and exciting. Seeing all our closest friends and family there was amazing. And getting to marry Alex was a dream come true. I wish we could do it all over again.”
