A wonderful winter wedding, full of stunning details. Bride Jacqueline shares her story…
How did Luke propose?
“We had booked to go to Rome and his plan was to take me to Trevi Fountain one night and propose to me. A few months before, we were at home and I said something along the lines of ‘you’re never going to ask me to marry you’ and he went into his wardrobe and pulled out a ring box and asked me. I had no idea he had it and was so surprised, shocked yet happy! I totally ruined the dreamy proposal he planned but having this moment at home, just us was perfect and I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
What dress did you wear?
“When I went to the boutique I tried on every style you could think of and just before I thought I wouldn’t find my dream gown that day, I saw this stunning dress at the end of a rail from Rosa Clara. I remember walking out of the dressing room and looking at my mom and her face said it all – we both just cried! I felt incredible in it, it was everything I had dreamt of and more and I knew Luke would love it too.”
And the accessories?
“I went for a pair of pointed shoes with a beautiful diamanté brooch on the toes. My earrings were by Melinda Rose Design.”
What did Luke wear?
“We went to multiple suit shops across the South West as he wanted a particular look, colour and style. He decided on a dark navy Hugo Boss suit with a lighter blue waistcoat as a contrast. He finished the look off with a navy and white polka dot tie and white pocket square – he looked so handsome.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“Emotional, happy and excited. I couldn’t wait to marry my best friend! We have been together for over 9 years and I had dreamt of this day for so long. ”
What was the highlight of your day?
“I can’t just pick one so I’ll give you two! The first one would be that Luke and I arrived at the venue together and got ready in the same place. He didn’t see me in my dress until the ceremony but the feeling of us being together and the reality that our wedding day was finally here was one I’ll never forget. The second would have to be when my dad walked me down the aisle. He sadly had to have a below the knee amputation last summer and he promised me he would walk me down the aisle – if I’m honest, I didn’t actually think this would happen. Before the ceremony I saw my dad, he stood up and said ‘look, no walking sticks’ – it was a very emotional moment for both of us. We took each other’s hands and he walked me into the ceremony. It was one of the most special and best moments of my life.”
