Boutique shopping may be on hold for now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start planning your dream bridal look. Here, Milina London share their ideas to keep you busy during lockdown…
It’s an uncertain time for all of us, especially for those who are planning to get married soon. We’ve had to put things on pause, for the most part, until we have a clearer idea of when things will go back to normal.
However, this doesn’t mean that your wedding planning has to stop entirely! There are still many aspects you can plan and think about from the comfort of your home, especially when it comes to getting inspiration for your wedding outfit and the accessories that you want to complement it.
Check out top ideas for planning your perfect bridal look from home below:
Find inspiration on Pinterest and Instagram
These visual platforms are amazing for getting wedding inspiration, and you can do everything from your smartphone. Start pinning or saving dresses that you like, jewellery styles that would complement your look or even ideas for the bridesmaids and groomsmen. You can create entire moodboards to see if all the ideas work together.
You don’t have to choose exact styles at this stage – instead, you can get inspired by colours and materials. For your dress, for example, you might want something in a more unusual colour, or there might be a particular gemstone you want for your earrings or necklace.
Start a scrapbook
Pinterest is a great platform, but you might be one of those people who prefers something in a physical format. In this case, there is no better time than this lockdown to get creative and make a scrapbook full of inspiration for your wedding outfit and accessories!
Whether it’s actual pieces that have caught your eye or just textures, colours, patterns and materials that you like, this is a great way to get the creative juices flowing and move your planning process along.
Many people are taking up hobbies during this period so perhaps it’s your turn to get creative. You likely won’t want to craft an entire wedding dress, but perhaps you could create a bag to accompany your wedding outfit.
Or, buy an existing bag online and then embellish it with items of your choosing! This could be a great way to add a personal touch to your wedding and also an excellent way to get rid of boredom you may feel during lockdown.
Browse on independent websites
Sadly you can’t go wedding dress shopping at the moment, but you can still browse online! We wouldn’t recommend buying your dress online but you can find some styles that you like, which will give you a clearer vision when you do get to go shopping.
There are many kinds of silhouettes and necklines when it comes to wedding dresses, so you can begin to narrow down the designs by looking at what is on offer.
Perhaps you already have your wedding dress sorted and just wanted to look for the accessories to complement your outfit. In that case, you can still take part in online shopping and identify any pieces that you like. Lots of fantastic independent retailers have a selection of their items online and you can shop to your heart’s content.
Think about the personal option
While you can’t go and look at accessories or jewels in person, you can commission a piece to be made for you by a jeweller.
A jeweller with a bespoke service, for example, would be able to create an entire personalised piece from your brief without you having to visit them. Calls can be made and designs can be sent virtually for your approval!
Milina London specialise in contemporary, handmade jewellery for women. They offer a bespoke service which is perfect for brides who are looking to design and create a special wedding jewellery piece which can be treasured forever.
