Here, Robbie Fowle, from the travel money experts H&T, shares three of the best honeymoon destinations you should consider for next year…
“Whether you were always planning to exchange your vows in 2021, or you’ve delayed your wedding due to the coronavirus outbreak, you might be looking to plan your honeymoon for next year. But, with the whole world out there just waiting for you to visit, it can be difficult to settle on a destination.
To help you come to a decision, I’m going to outline my three top picks of the best honeymoon destinations for 2021. And, as most people’s summer holiday plans are likely to be on hold this year, I’ve made sure to pick spots that will provide you with plenty of sun, and all the luxury you could possibly want. You’ll deserve it after everything 2020 is throwing at us!”
Tanzania
If you want to ensure your honeymoon is going to be completely different to any summer holiday you’ve been on before, Tanzania should be at the top of your list. A traditional Tanzanian safari will allow you to see some of the best wildlife that Africa has to offer, but you’ll also be able to make your honeymoon nights extra-special with candle-lit dinners under the stars. You’re also sure to experience some of the best sunsets of your life.
There are plenty of camps and lodges to choose from, too, so you’ll have no trouble picking one that fits your taste and budget. From more polished options with huge suites, and even bathtubs with a view, to more rustic accommodation that’s ideal for those who are more outdoorsy, there’s sure to be something that’s perfect for you and your husband or wife.
If you would like to add some relaxing beach days to the end of your holiday, why not take a short flight to Zanzibar? The island is the perfect place for some R&R, and both of these destinations use the Tanzanian shilling, so you won’t have to carry two different currencies for your trip.
Hawaii
If you’re looking to plan an idyllic beach honeymoon, which provides plenty of opportunities for adventure, Hawaii is the destination for you. It has all of the soft-sand beaches and blue water you could dream of, which is perfect for when you want to just relax on the beach with a book or cocktail in hand. Then, on days when you want a bit more excitement, you could explore the coast of Hawaii’s Kauai Island in a catamaran, or even take a guided tour of the valley where Jurassic Park was filmed. If you want to learn more about the natural wonder of Hawaii, make sure you visit Volcano National Park, or take a night-time snorkelling tour to spot the wildlife you wouldn’t usually see in the day. You’ll never run out of things to do in Hawaii!
It’s part of the United States of America, too, which means everywhere accepts the US Dollar. This is especially good news if you’re planning to stop off on the mainland before or after heading to the island, because you don’t have to worry about having multiple currencies with you.
The Maldives
No list of the best honeymoon destinations is complete without a mention of the Maldives. This destination can be found just southwest of Sri Lanka, on the equator, which means the climate doesn’t change much. As a result, you visit at any time of year and are sure to be blessed with fantastic weather.
The Maldives is made up of 1,190 coral islands — 202 of these are inhabited, and 100 are exclusive luxury island resorts. So, as you can imagine, you have plenty of options when it comes to picking the base for your honeymoon in paradise.
Every island is surrounded by pristine white sand and stunning blue waters. Plus, from retreats where you can enjoy your very own beach, to over-water huts with private infinity pools, each resort offers something truly special. Whether you’re looking to chill out on the beach and recuperate with your other half, or you enjoy diving, snorkelling, and boat trips, the Maldives really has it all.
Just remember that, while the local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, US dollars are most commonly used on resort islands. If you’re unsure of what to take, speak to your hosts before you travel — they’ll be able to give you all the information you need.
