Bride Holly shares all about her stunning outdoor wedding, with a chic pink and white scheme…
How did Ben propose?
It was Christmas Day, the 7th one we had spent together. Even though it can be seen as cliché, he chose this day as I just love Christmas time, and my nan was ill in hospital at the time – he waited until the end of the day when I had got back from visiting her.
He had one present left that he hadn’t given me yet. It was a beautiful large rose gold jewellery box with a poem inside. I read the poem aloud, which brought tears to my eyes and it ended with the words.. “Will you be my queen?” He then told me to turn around, and as I turned back he was on one knee holding up my engagement ring and said “will you?”
Of course I said yes!
What dress did you wear?
I wore an ivory A-line wedding dress from Bliss Bridal Outlet in Mexborough, Rotherham.
And the accessories?
I wore silver crystal drop earrings and matching necklace from Debenhams; a crystal bracelet from QVC that was a present from my nan; one of my bridesmaid’s silver ankle bracelets as something borrowed, and a blue bow hair clip of my daughters as something blue. I also wore a crystal tiara from Debenhams.
What did the Ben wear?
A navy blue suit from Next with a white shirt, ivory tie, and brown shoes from Burton.
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
I thought I’d feel very nervous, and I did in a way but when I saw him I felt happy, excited and at ease.
Who were your bridesmaids and where were their dresses from?
I had 6 bridesmaids, my 1-year-old daughter who wore a white dress from Matalan, the other 5 bridesmaids – my best friends – who wore silk blush pink dresses from Oasis. I also had a brides-man who wore a blush pink suit from Burton.
What was your wedding theme and how did you create it?
Our theme was blush pink and white. We chose blush pink as I have always loved the colour, and we both wanted a natural looking theme. We chose white rather than ivory or cream as we really like the crisp look. We chose a white on white theme for our chair covers, which looked clean and classy. We added a hint of blush pink to the dinner table by choosing a blush pink table runner.
What was the highlight of your day?
Dancing at the reception with my husband, bridesmaids, daughter and my husband’s friends. Everyone had such a good time, everybody had a smile on their face and went mad on the dance floor.
What was your best buy?
My dress. I just loved it and felt really comfortable in it.
