Don’t let any last-minute wedding stress show up on your face! Check out these top tips to help avoid breakouts in the run up to your special day…
Congratulations, your big day is right around the corner. You have the venue booked, the menu prepared and all of the flowers have been ordered. The week of your wedding comes and you want everything to be perfect, but just days before you say ‘I do’ you may notice your face starting to break out. This is an all-too-common occurrence among brides, as the stressors of planning a wedding can be overwhelming, to say the least. Don’t let this happen to you just before walking down the aisle. Read on to find out some simple tips to avoid breakouts and keep your face looking picture-perfect for your wedding photos!
Shower after your workout
If you’re on that pre-wedding workout plan, always be sure to shower as soon as you finish. The longer the bacteria from your sweat sits on the surface of your skin, the more likely you are to develop clogged pores, blackheads and acne. Scrub your face and the rest of your skin thoroughly to ensure it’s squeaky clean from any post-workout grime. Always remove all makeup before working out as well to really prevent an unwanted breakout.
Clean your phone screen regularly
Try to clean your phone screen at least once a week with a sanitary wipe or rubbing alcohol to prevent the build-up of oils, dirt, and bacteria. All of these will transfer to your face when you take phone calls. Keeping your hands clean by washing them and using hand sanitizer regularly will also limit this transfer to your phone screen.
If you develop a breakout, act immediately
Whenever you notice a blemish, act immediately and begin applying a product that will treat it effectively. If you suffer from adult acne, which causes constant and widespread breakouts, you may want to consult with a dermatologist. Using a prescription anti-acne treatment will help to avoid any breakouts that might happen and can even be ordered online after a simple consultation with a physician. It’s now easier than ever to treat all sorts of skin conditions without an inconvenient doctor’s visit, so don’t worry if you already have a breakout.
Keep makeup brushes clean
If you’re someone who applies makeup every day or most days of the week, keeping all brushes and other applicators you use clean and sanitary is essential. These tools become loaded with dead skin, oils from your face and other residues that make contact with your skin every time you use them. Cleaning these, along with the inside of your makeup bag or any other storage space you use on a regular basis, will prevent acne and other blemishes from forming from dirty brushes.
Keep your hands to yourself
Although you may not notice it, many of us are constantly touching our own faces, and tend to rest our heads on our hands on a daily basis. Try to train yourself to resist the urge to touch your face as this will transfer the oils and particles onto your skin, which can make the occurrence of breakouts much more likely. If you already have a zit, don’t touch it or pick at it either. These are all unhealthy habits that keep your skin from having a clear complexion.
