We adore this gorgeous celebration at one of our favourite venues – The Italian Villa. Amanda tells all about her chic pink wedding…
How did Luke propose?
“Luke proposed whilst we were away on holiday in the Dominican Republic. He suggested a walk on the beach before dinner. He had thought of everything, including a light up ring box so I could see the ring sparkling away. For me, it was the best surprise in the world.”
What dress did you wear?
“I knew before I even started my wedding dress hunt that I wanted something modern, with lace and a big train. I found my dress initially in a bridal magazine and then had to go looking for a bridal shop that stocked the designer. I bought my dress from Anya Bridal Couture in Wickham. After trying on a dozen or so dresses, I came right back to this one.”
And the accessories?
“All of the bridal party were wearing Links of London earrings on the day. My bracelet was my ‘something borrowed’ courtesy of my mum. My shoes were from Rainbow Club. Not only are they super comfy but Rainbow Club will dye them a colour of your choice after your wedding so they don’t go to waste.”
What did the groom wear?
“Luke was ever-eager to keep up with my dress budget and picked out a navy blue ink scratch suit from DKNY alongside shoes from Ted Baker.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“This is one of the best parts of a wedding to me. Who doesn’t love seeing the way a groom looks at his bride walking down the aisle? I was full of nervous excitement walking along with my proud father in a room full of our closest friends and family. I felt exactly the same way as the first minute I met him.”
Who were your bridesmaids and where were their dresses from?
“My bridesmaids were Yasmin, Hannah and Hayley. Not only great friends but also hugely organised and supportive – exactly what I needed when I was questioning invitation fonts, flowers, guest lists and all sorts! Yasmin threw me the craziest hen party in Amsterdam and I can’t thank her enough for making it a weekend to remember. All my bridesmaids wore Kelsey Rose cowl back dresses in pink. The dresses were beautiful and they all looked stunning in them.”
What was your theme?
“We didn’t have a specific wedding theme but tried to pick things that complemented our venue. I am so lucky to have had the help of Luke’s step-mum, Nicky, who turned our hundreds of Instagram and Pinterest favourite tags into a reality. Nicky helped with the designing throughout the wedding and supplied all of the flowers through her shop Penelope’s Petals in Cosham.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“Marrying the love of my life. Eating some of the best food i’ve ever tasted. Having everyone I care about there to share it with. I don’t think I could pick one moment. There were so many highs. From the first time my dad got to see me in my dress and cried, to walking down the aisle and seeing Luke waiting for me, to our first dance that we managed to keep secret for a whole 18 months. The cliche ‘best day of your life’ phrase is true!”
What was your best buy?
The Italian Villa. Everything about it is exceptional. They made me feel at ease during the whole planning process, being so particular over every point to make sure I got exactly what i wanted. Everything was to a high standard, classy, professional and executed to perfection. I don’t think a bride could ask for more.
What’s your saving tip?
Find out what you can do yourself and do it! We really wanted mini limoncello favours but they cost a small fortune. Having a quick check online we found 100 miniature bottles and a few litres of limoncello which all came in at half the cost. We also customised our own labels for the bottles.
