This Scottish celebration had a colourful Summer theme in Autumn! Emma tells us all about her gorgeous Aberdeenshire wedding…
What dress did you wear?
“I purchased a Pronovias gown from Midnight Elegance in Inverurie. I was adamant I didn’t want a veil but when the shop owner tried one on me I had the crying ‘this is the one’ moment, which I thought only happened in films!”
And the accessories?
“My earrings were from Stella & Dot and my bracelet was from Ivory & Co. They both matched each other and the dress well. My veil was purchased with my dress and my shoes were a simple ivory pair of satin heels from Rainbow Club.”
What did Kenny wear?
“Kenny wore his own kilt in his clan tartan. He hired his jacket from the same kilt dress shop as the bridal party so that they could all have matching jackets (Georgian Dress Hire).”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“I was so pleased to see him, and it was such a fantastic feeling to know that we were going in as individuals but coming out as family.”
Who were your bridesmaids and where were their dresses from?
“My bridesmaids were my best friends Kate and Alli. I had been toying with the idea of purchasing dresses online, but I’d never felt totally comfortable that they would be true to the photos and fit well. While exhibiting at a wedding fair in January, I noticed a beautifully simple Alfred Sung dress from Dessy. I ordered the dresses from the same shop I bought my wedding dress from.”
What was your theme?
“Even though our wedding was in Autumn, I wanted to create a colourful summer theme. I enlisted the services of Kim Dalglish – a local florist who makes the most beautiful wedding bouquets and displays. My bouquet featured lots of pinks and oranges, and the bridesmaids had satin ribbons in similar colours trailing down theirs.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“The evening reception was such a good laugh. We hired a DJ and gave a bit of a playlist of throwback tunes that meant the dancefloor was filled all night. There were some hilarious dance moves going on and it was great to see all of our
friends and family getting on so well. We ended the night
by being lifted up on to people’s shoulders to the song Loch Lomond.”
