A rustic summer wedding with muted tones created a chic backdrop to this day. Bride Hilary tells us more…
How did Ben propose?
“Ben proposed in Barcelona back in November 2016. He took me to the Sagrada Familiar. As an architecture student, it was my all-time favourite building. We took the lift up to the top of the Passion Tower. Whilst I was soaking up the breathtaking views of Barcelona, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! My very first words were inaudible to him as a high-pitched squeal that was quickly followed by yes!”
What dress did you wear?
“I wore Della in latte by WTOO. My dress shopping experience had been a long process of around 70 dresses in 10 stores over 5 months! I was holding out for ‘the one’ that made me feel like the very best version of myself. I finally found my dress in Belle of the Ball Bridals in Melksham.”
And the accessories?
“I wore a handmade necklace from Jody Cory Goldsmiths Ltd in Bath, which was a gift from my parents for the big day, and opal drop earrings from Etsy.”
What did Ben wear?
“A grey three-piece suit with a light grey double-breasted waistcoat from Moss Bros. We chose light grey paisley ties and pockets squares that were gifted to the groomsmen on the big day. Ben also wore some custom cufflinks. The same suit was worn by the best man and all the groomsmen.”
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
“We had six bridesmaids – my sisters Conny and Alexandra, two of my cousins, Ellen and Natasha, and two of my best friends from university, Georgie and Jennie. Their dresses were all from different high street stores as we wanted them to choose their own dresses in light grey.”
What was your theme?
“Our wedding theme was rustic/country. There was a loose colour scheme of light grey, ivory and green foliage.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“For me, the highlight was straight after our first dance when all the guests were on the dance floor, although I felt as though there was no one there except the two of us. That was the exact moment when we realised we were done with all the formalities of the wedding, and we were married!”
