We adore this Somerset wedding! Here, real bride Holly tells us all about her perfect, fun-filled day in the west country…
What dress did you wear?
“My mum had come up to stay with us in London, so we could go wedding dress shopping. I had three appointments lined up, with the hope that at the end of the weekend, I would have a dress! Before the appointments, we were doing some mother of bride dress shopping when we came across a bridal shop. We popped in to get some inspiration, and within half an hour I had tried on a dress and fallen in love. Feeling like perhaps this was ‘first dress lust’ and aware of the three appointments I had lined up, we carried on as planned. Nothing compared and the Berketex dress did not leave my thoughts. We went back the very next day to order the dress. When it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be!”
And the accessories?
“I wore peep toe satin shoes from Rainbow Club, simple drop pearl earrings and a crystal and pearl hair piece. I wanted understated accessories – I was aiming for a classical look – and I wanted it to be all about
What did Tom wear?
“Tom wore a three-piece grey suit from Moss Bros. Tom likes to wear a pocket square with his suits, so went for a polka dot pattern to contrast the navy ones the groomsmen wore.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“I have to say, I was filled with emotion. I pretty much sniffled my way up the aisle! The chapel has the most beautiful walkway down the aisle, but my eyes only focused on Tom. I had flutters of excitement and nerves, but as soon as I reached him, I felt at ease and calm.“
What was your theme?
“Our aim for our wedding was for it to be fun and relaxed. There was no strong theme, but we used travel to tie together the table plan and names. The table names were countries we had visited together and included a photo of us in that place. Our table plan was a world map, which had guest lists for each table pinpointed to all the locations we had travelled to as a couple. Our wedding favours were miniature parcels that contained Lindt chocolate truffles.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“Our favourite part of the day was the evening. We could finally let our hair down and celebrate with our friends and family. We had a live band, Soulstar, for the evening who really got the dancing going. From 7pm onwards we pretty much spent all our time on the dancefloor! There is no better feeling knowing that all your friends and family have come together to help you celebrate. When I hear songs from our wedding I relive the burst of happiness all over again!”
