Bride Lisa shares the details of her springtime Sheffield wedding, with beautiful bridesmaids in berry blue
How did James propose?
“It was Christmas Eve 2016. As a tradition we always head to our local village pub to enjoy the festivities, so there was nothing out of the ordinary on the day. As we left the pub, James suggested we could walk the long route home over the hilltops, much to my dislike as it was cold, but I agreed. As we reached the top of the hill, James commented on the views, and as I turned around he was on one knee.”
What dress did you wear?
“I wore an elegant Essense of Australia dress, which I absolutely fell in love with as soon as I tried it on. The back of the dress was just stunning. It was purchased from Limelight Occasions – a gorgeous boutique in West Yorkshire. Limelight Occasions is every bride’s dream bridal shop because it not only houses bridal dresses, but everything from men’s formal wear, bridesmaid dresses to mother of the bride outfits and a fabulous collection of headwear. The team looked after me and my bridal party from the moment we walked in, to the day I collected my dress. They provided the ultimate bridal experience that all girls dream of.”
And the accessories?
“I wore a pair of shoes by Charlotte Mills, and my hair vine, earrings and bracelet were from Jon Richard.”
What did the groom wear?
“The groom wore a navy blue Peter Posh morning suit with a grey double-breasted waistcoat, ivory tie and top hat, which was hired from Limelight Occasions.”
Who were your bridesmaids and where were their dresses from?
“I had four adult bridesmaids: my cousin, my two best friends and my eldest niece. They all looked beautiful in their dusty blue berry dresses by Romantica of Devon, which where purchased from Alison Jane Bridal Boutique in West Yorkshire. I also had two flowergirls who were my nieces. They wore a plain ivory dress from Monsoon.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“Apart from marrying my soulmate and sharing the day with family and friends, the speeches would have to be one of the highlights of the day. They were beautiful, hilarious, embarrassing, moving and surprising all wrapped into one. The best man drew a rapturous reception from our guests!”
