Real bride Claire tells all about her classic white wedding set in Leez Priory, a wonderful 16th century manor…
How did Chris propose?
“Chris proposed in Venice. On the way there he wore a man-bag and I could see the shape of the ring box in it! The proposal itself was very romantic – he got down on one knee in a gondola.”
What dress did you wear?
“I wore a Justin Alexander mermaid lace dress with an open back. My something borrowed was my maid of honour’s veil, and I wore Christian Louboutin satin peep toes. I changed into flip flops later on, though!”
And the accessories?
“I wore a simple diamanté bracelet from Mikey. I also gave the same design to all of my bridesmaids and my mum as a gift – I wanted us all to match.”
What did Chris wear?
“Chris wore black trousers and a white jacket with a bow tie. I was worried he’d look odd when he told me what he was planning to wear, but fair play to him – he proved me wrong! He looked brilliant and very ‘James Bond’! His suit was tailored from Scabal, Savile Row. He also wore a Rolex watch.”
Where did you get your bridesmaids’ dresses?
“I had five bridesmaids and their dresses came from LightInTheBox. They were white strapless satin floor-length corseted dresses. We all chose the dresses together. I wanted them to feel comfortable and look stunning… And they did!”
What was the first step in planning your wedding?
“The first thing we booked was the venue. Leez is such a beautiful venue and the staff are so welcoming. Chris loved it as soon as we drove in – it’s a special place that really does take your breath away, at any time of year.”
What’s your top tip?
“For a bride, in a venue like this, definitely try to stay in the cottage the night before. Not only did we have great fun, it was nice waking up on the morning not needing to rush to get to the venue. Also, if budget allows, go for a videographer. There were so many bits of the day that I didn’t get to see, but thanks to the video, I now can.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“There was a wonderful photo of me drying Chris’s tears. He’s a bit bashful about it now, but when he first saw me, his bottom lip was going and everything, bless him. So I ran up the aisle to help him out!”
