It’s March 1st and officially the first day of Spring… yet the snow lays round about (deep and crisp and even). Determined to stay sunny about the snow, we celebrate the very best of a winter wedding…
What with all this snow flurrying about, nothing but empty milk cartons in the fridge, a car that just will not start, and manically hyped-up children (and husband), it would be easy to let this beasting from the East get the better of us. But this is Love Our Wedding. Not here we don’t, Oh No. Here, we see the sunny side of the snow and view it as a marvellous opportunity to once more get excited about planning a winter wedding. An opportunity to step back in time, if you will. Oh yes, we see the Narnia-esque magic here! And we’re in the mood to celebrate the very best a winter wedding has to offer. So Spring you say? No thanks. We’re loving this winter wonderland…
Q: How do Eskimos get married in winter?
A: Very quickly – it’s minus 30 degrees Celsius!
If you’re planning a winter wedding just a quick peek out the window today should give you oodles of inspiration. With lots of snow, breathtaking views, unique backdrops for photographs, and that warm glow when you finally get indoors by the log fire… what’s not to love about this magical weather?
The opportunities for winter wonderland wedding venues are endless. You can get married in snow chapels, mountain-lodges, Austrian castles, glass igloos, ice caves, beside a waterfall, on the edge of a cliff, inside a glacier, and even beneath snow-capped peaks. For something a little closer to home, check out these sweepingly romantic log cabins in the Welsh hills: rivercatcher.co.uk.
We’re feeling thankful for the snow because without it, we would never have researched and found this beautiful Inuit Wedding Song – perfect for incorporating into any wedding vows, whatever the weather:
You are my husband, you are my wife
My feet shall run because of you
My feet dance because of you
My heart shall beat because of you
My eyes see because of you
My mind thinks because of you
And I shall love, because of you.
This is also the perfect weather for planning your wedding day. Who wants to organise the seating plan in glorious sunshine? Now, you and your groom-to-be can have a justified ‘we’re-snowed-in’ duvet day, with lashings of hot chocolate, onesies all round, romcoms on the telly, and some alone time planning for the day of your dreams. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…
We showcase our winter wonderland gallery below of the very best this magical season has to offer…
