They say a picture paints a thousand words and for something decidedly different, we love this inspired, unusual and truly artful new hen idea…
All-night raves not really your thing? The thought of a spa day leave you cold? If you’re looking to buck the trend and take your best girls on a hen experience they’ll never forget, then why not consider this brilliant new hen idea? West Dean College of Arts and Conservation are running a life drawing class with The Drawing Circus on Friday 21st September, 9am-5pm. What a wonderful way to take the alternative route!
In the sumptuous setting of the Oak Hall at the West Sussex estate, this life drawing class will be tutored by a professional artist. Students will be drawing not just from ordinary life models, but from models from the esteemed Drawing Circus – a huge group of ornately costumed performers. You and the girls will be serenaded by a live band so never fear that this is strictly a serious affair; laughing is absolutely encouraged!
The day will comprise of two sessions, each consisting of three 45-minute narrative poses from the models of The Drawing Circus, accompanied by live music from the Drawchestra. The sessions are led by Jake Spicer, head tutor of Brighton Drawing School and author of a series of popular instructional drawing books. Lunch, tea and coffee are all included in the £55 price for the day. Students will need to bring their own sketch pads or paper, but all drawing media (graphite sticks, pencils, pens etc.) will be provided.
Part relaxing day out, part theatrical art class, this cheeky cabaret won’t be forgotten in a hurry! There is even the option to stay the night in West Dean House’s beautiful rooms.
