Let’s get married in… the sensational new Georgian wedding venue, perfect for an intimate, boutique-chic and unforgettable day….
Nestled in the heart of Cheltenham and overlooking some beautiful parks and gardens, we were lucky enough to give No. 38 The Park a trial run and experience its inimitable laid-back style and exemplary service. This beautiful Georgian wedding venue couldn’t be more happily situated or decorated for an intimate wedding party. Think softly glowing lights, beautifully upholstered sofas, oversized coffee tables, sumptuous interior design, gloriously large double beds, magnificent bathrooms and unique artwork… and you’d be getting close. The whole tone of this thirteen-bedroom boutique hotel achieves the impossible and somehow manages to pull off that wonderfully reassuring, ‘home-from-home’ feel, whilst also – and at every possible turn – making you feel in the very lap of luxury. And what could be more perfect for a wedding venue?!
From the moment you step through No. 38 The Park’s doors, you breathe a sigh of relief, knowing with absolute certainty that this was a good move. Before you ever take a single step, in fact, you’re right at home – and this is the magic of the place: welcoming, accessible, the least unpretentious venue – yet No. 38 The Park is quietly confident in its own charm and it absolutely cast a spell on us. No official reception area enhances the cosy atmosphere and the feeling that you’re visiting a rather grand and stately relation; a cherished and slightly eccentric great Aunt, perhaps, who loves opening her doors and throwing unforgettable parties. And a wedding party here would be something to cherish forever.
This designer and highly stylised hotel would be perfect for a bespoke wedding. Hire out all 13 bedrooms, drawing room, dining room and courtyard garden and you’d be in for a treat. With the concept of a ‘wedding package’ delightfully absent from No. 38 The Park’s ethos, you are free to create a tailor-made bespoke vision that speaks to and of you both as a couple. The dining room and courtyard space have previously been magically transformed, for example, with a VIP red carpet for the aisle and al fresco nibbles and bubbles (the outdoor space also includes its own bar). The lovely people at No. 38 The Park can even organise in-room treatments before the big ‘I do’, all your flowers, and even a nanny service (oh goodness we LOVE you!).
We spent the night in a room that can only be described as sheer gorgeousness. Each of the 13 bedrooms are unique and include truly one-off little flourishes and additions that you wouldn’t find in a chain or bigger hotel. Our teapot came with its own little handmade embroidered cosy. Some rooms include positively decadent roll-top baths, although I must have spent a solid six minutes straight staring open-mouthed at our en suite bathroom with its beautiful floor-to-ceiling tiling and double oversized sinks, whilst throwing accusatory ‘why don’t we have this bathroom in our home HEY?’ looks at my husband. Happily, the bed did not disappoint (always a bit of a gamble in a hotel: will the bed be comfortable?), and I’m absolutely convinced the bed-makers had at least eight people in mind. The overall effect of the rooms is one that positively screams at you: ‘Most beloved guest, sit back! Relax! Let it all wash over you! For you, my friend, are special…’.
Curiously quirky, No. 38 The Park does things differently. We fell in love with their ‘honesty bar’ – a whole wall in old English oak taken up with every manner of drink you could wish to see and for guests to serve themselves a little tipple. The bed and breakfast at No. 38 The Park served a delicious breakfast for us, and for our evening meal, we were taken by complimentary taxi to sister hotel No. 131 for a heavenly meal and devilishly good cocktails (you only need one Strawberry Prosecco. Trust me on that.)
Bringing to life a beautiful wedding here would be sort of like having a blank canvas to work with that is the most colourful, vibrant and stylish ‘blank’ canvas you’ve ever had! Do nothing at all to this glorious house and the photographs would be spectacular! Make it your own and you’re guaranteed an unforgettable wedding day. For more information, visit theluckyonion.com
