This Christmas wedding had plenty of heart-warming cheer and a sprinkling of magic. Real bride Claire shares her winter wonderland day with us…
How did Kyle propose?
“We were on holiday in Florida, staying in the Disney hotel and visiting the parks. Kyle had booked an evening meal in the Beauty and the Beast restaurant – the setting was magical with projected snow falling and beautiful décor. In between courses, Kyle got down on one knee, and produced a lit ring box!”
What dress did you wear?
“I wore a tulle ballgown with a sweetheart neckline, which I had customised with a sparkly diamanté belt and buttons added to the back for some additional detail.”
And the accessories?
“I wore a diamanté bracelet from Accessorize that best matched the belt. I found some pretty, dainty earrings and a necklace online that fitted in with our theme – a silver snowflake design. With it being a winter wedding, I kept warm with a mohair shrug from Monsoon.”
What did the groom wear?
“Kyle, his groomsmen and my father all wore navy blue tuxedos with red bow ties and cummerbunds from Suits You. They also wore red reindeer socks to match the theme. Our son and nephews wore matching blue tuxedos from Monsoon and they looked super cute!”
Who were your bridesmaids and where were their dresses from?
“My beautiful bridesmaids were my friends Charlotte and Cheryl, my younger sister Julia, and Sam, one of Kyle’s friends. Their dresses were from an online clothing store. We found the perfect shade of red with a sparkly top that complemented my dress. My talented sister also made cream shrugs for the bridesmaids to wear, too.”
What was your wedding theme and how did you create it?
“We both love all things Christmassy and thought that a Christmas-themed wedding would be magical. We had real Christmas trees with simple white LED lights, and white lights in the marquee roof. We also created table decorations with baubles and fairy lights. The place names were made by my parents using pinecones, with names printed on them.“
What was the highlight of your day?
“Saying ‘I do’ was so special and what the day was all about. Our first dance was a really happy moment – we were a bit unchoreographed during it, talking and singing to each other throughout! And we also had a friend host a game of Mr & Mrs, which was absolutely hilarious!”
What’s your saving tip?
“We were fortunate enough to be able to acquire the talents of friends and family to help us make accessories and decorations. This saved us money, of course, but perhaps more importantly created an irreplaceable, personal touch.”
