A sublime setting in Sorrento, and a traditional Italian real wedding with Mount Vesuvius in the background. Beautiful bride Beth tells all…
How did Dan propose?
“We were travelling in Europe around Christmas. After a three-course meal in a seafood restaurant in Cannes, France, Dan suggested a walk to the harbour and that’s where he proposed. It was perfect – I always wanted a private proposal and the harbour was completely secluded with only the two of us there.”
What dress did you wear?
“I wore a strapless, fitted lace dress by Anna Sorrano. I found it during my first time browsing for wedding dresses, but as soon as I tried it on I knew it was perfect.”
And the accessories?
“I wore a matching belt and hair comb with my dress. My pearl earrings were from Pandora, a gift on the wedding day from my parents. After considering heels, I wore a pair of satin wedges, which were perfect for the Sorrento cobbles.”
What did Dan wear?
“He wore a navy blue chequered two-piece suit from Next, with a lemon tie. Since we were getting married in Italy in summer, a full suit probably would have ended up as a disaster. At first Dan had his heart set on wearing shorts, but his mother and I managed to talk him out of it! So in the end the groomsmen all wore trousers, instead.”
Who were your bridesmaids and where were their dresses from?
“My bridesmaids were my younger sister, two of my best friends and our two nieces. They wore gorgeous lemon multiway dresses from In One Clothing. I loved having each of them wearing the same dress but in different styles – and, importantly, they worked well in the heat.”
What was your theme?
“Given our location, it was traditional Italian. Our venue was so lovely and we didn’t want to over-decorate it – the cloisters had a white carpet and a beautiful garden. Our reception hotel overlooked the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius, which acted as a perfect backdrop. The tables had small flower arrangements and photos of our loved ones who could not share our day with us.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“We loved every minute, from saying “I do” in the beautiful cloisters to toasting our marriage with friends and family. We ended the night dancing and drinking on the hotel terrace to fireworks in the harbour. Fantastic!”
What’s your saving tip?
“If you’re getting married abroad be sure to get a wedding planner; they know the best suppliers and companies and end up saving you a lot of money, and time!”
