A journey that started in the Malvern Hills ended in a gloriously rustic-inspired wedding… Real Bride Steph tells us about her perfect day…
How did Luke propose?
“We were attending a family party in Great Malvern on 21st August 2016. We went for a walk in the hills (mirroring one of our first dates, three years earlier). Mid-way through, Luke got down on one knee. We laughed because I had just been saying how lucky I was to have met him – I didn’t mean to steal his thunder!”
What dress did you wear?
“My dress was from the Amélie collection at Sottero & Midgley. I initially tried it on at The National Wedding Show and fell in love. I adored the champagne colour, the deep ‘V’ on the bodice and the volume of the skirt – plus the embellishment was next level! I ended up buying it from The Bridal Room in Broadway, Worcestershire. I was so excited to put the dress back on – I knew it was still ’the one’.”
And the accessories?
“I opted for a back necklace from Wildest Dreams Bridal. I paired the necklace with some simple pearl and diamond stud earrings from Payne & Sons, Oxford.”
What did Luke wear?
“Luke wore a bespoke three-piece. He chose the fabric, lining and style, tailored by Clements and Church. He wore a watch he was given by his parents when he was six. He also decided that he and his groomsmen should all wear Marvel socks!”
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
“My sisters and my friend from primary school went for different styles so that they all felt at ease and amazing in what they were wearing. We were able to find three similar dresses online from For Her and For Him and ordered them all in the same material, and in a colour that went with our chosen colour scheme. FH&FH were great – they provided detailed guidance when taking measurements. The dresses arrived in a timely manner and were true to size.”
What was the highlight of your day?
”The whole day was amazing and I couldn’t ask for more. The food was out of this world and the boys had us in hysterics with their speeches. But I don’t think anything beats that moment, seconds before you’re about to walk down the aisle: you’ve got your girls in front of you, your dad offering support by your side and your beloved just steps away.”
