A glorious real country wedding celebration full of fun and joyfulness. Bride Nancy tells us how she captured the party vibe…
How did Greg propose?
”Greg proposed beside the Christmas tree. He was acting strange, and I couldn’t understand why he was so stressed. I only found out later that he was desperately trying to get the tree up and propose before my sisters were due to arrive! I cried, and when my sisters pulled up, they did the same!”
What dress did you wear?
“I wore a Martina Liana dress from Angelica Bridal, who are based in Islington. It was the first dress I tried on and my mum, sister and I just knew it was perfect. I’m so glad I went for a less traditional dress. Greg loved it too, and kept saying how gorgeous he thought it looked throughout the day.”
And the accessories?
“I wore a necklace that Greg gave me on our first Christmas together. I also wore a beautiful bracelet that Greg gave me as a wedding present. I got my earrings from John Lewis.”
What did Greg wear?
“He wore a Tom Ford suit, which took him longer to choose than it took me to pick my wedding dress!”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“I was so excited; I couldn’t wait to marry Greg. I walked up the aisle so quickly – I was that keen to get to him! I surprised myself and my family by being chilled and relaxed the morning of the wedding. I just wanted to enjoy the whole thing. My bridesmaids and family looked after me so well.”
What dresses did your bridesmaids wear?
“My sister Helen and best friend Katie were chief bridesmaids. The three of us are all best friends and I couldn’t have done it without their help. My niece Harriett and Greg’s niece Jasmine were also bridesmaids. We got all of their dresses from David’s Bridal.”
What was your theme?
“Relaxed country party. We wanted our family and friends to eat, drink and dance the night away. The venue was so amazing that it didn’t really need much more than gorgeous flowers to make it shine. We got our flowers from The Sage Garden in Ware and I can’t believe Vanessa managed to create such beautiful arrangements from my muddled explanation of what we wanted! Greg managed all the boring jobs (invites, RSVPs, invoices…) and I got to do all the fun tasks like flowers, bridesmaid dresses, presents, goody bags for the kids and all the little details! We got lots of ideas from Pinterest and tried to order things early, so we didn’t feel any unnecessary stress close to the day.”
What was your best buy?
“Wedding videographer, definitely! Trevor from Ealing Wedding Studio was absolutely amazing and the videos will be something we always treasure.”
