We love this couple’s beautiful love-fuelled wedding, filled with fabulous rustic details. Real bride Ceri tells us how they did it…
How did Dan propose?
“Christmas morning in our house usually starts with some croissants and Prosecco, so we were all sitting down to eat. He was wearing a jumper even though it was so hot in my parents’ house to try to conceal the ring. Once everyone was sat down, he asked me to stand up, then took me by the hand and I suddenly twigged. He quickly got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I of course said yes and the room erupted. Mum started doing laps of the table and the grandmas were squeaking!”
What dress did you wear?
“I wore a Mori Lee dress. The lace was beautiful and the belt was perfect with lots of lovely pearls on. I bought it from Bridal Factory Outlet in Northallerton.”
And the accessories?
“I borrowed my veil from my friend Sonia as my something borrowed. It matched perfectly with the little pearls around the edge just setting the belt off. I also wore a hair clip that I bought from Dreamcatcher Bridal in Preston. I wore pearl earrings that were gifted to me years ago from my parents and they bought me a Swarovski bracelet for my wedding.”
What did Dan wear?
“The groom wore slim fit chinos from Tommy Hilfiger; the shirt was from TM Lewin and had a button-down collar; the waistcoat was from Edinburgh Woollen Mill; the bow tie was from Walker Slater, and his shoes were Toms brogues.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“I just couldn’t believe how smart he looked. We’d had so much stress trying to get his outfit sorted and I hadn’t seen it all together, so I was blown away.”
Who were your bridesmaids and where were their dresses from?
“I had two bridesmaids – my sister Kathryn and my cousin Jessica. They wore beautiful lace and tulle lavender dresses. They fitted the venue perfectly with a whimsical, country feel. We bought them from Dan Kerr Bridal in Preston.”
What was your theme?
“Our choice of venue really dictated our theme. Huntstile Organic Farm is just beautiful and has a wonderful country, relaxed vibe. Everything we did was rustic. We made our own hessian bunting and the table centres were just jam jars with wildflowers. Place names were pebbles and everything was just a bit shabby chic. We wanted everything to be personal so had a map of New Zealand (our favourite place) for our table plan with each table named after a place we had visited. We also had pictures of our parents’ and grandparents’ weddings dotted around, which was a really nice touch.“
