This fabulous Winter wedding ticks all the boxes – glamorous, unique and quirky! Here bride Jessica gives us the lowdown on her wedding to husband Micky…
How did Micky propose?
“We went away for Christmas, just the two of us to Centre Parcs. We had our very first holiday here and ended up in exactly the same villa, which brought back so many happy memories. We were in front of the fire on Christmas Day, after a lovely woodland walk, when I turned around to find Micky on one knee! I didn’t stop crying for hours!”
What dress did you wear?
“My dress was by Lazaro. I actually saw it on Say Yes To The Dress before we were even engaged and always said it was the one! It had to be shipped from the States just for me to try it on, but I loved it more than ever, and ended up buying it!”
And the accessories?
“My jewellery was my something old and my something borrowed, as I wore a pearl necklace my mother gave me for my 25th, diamond earrings from my father for my 21st, and a beautiful bracelet belonging to my mother. My veil was originally plain, but I stuck a handful of tiny diamantés to catch the light and give a hint of sparkle. My hair jewels were from Accessorize.”
What did Micky wear?
“Micky wore a fab blue velvet patterned smoking jacket from Moss Bros. We both wanted to stay clear of anything that was ‘the norm’, as Micky wears great suits for work anyway. None of the groomsmen matched either – the bride doesn’t need to be the only one to stand out! He wore Converse shoes to add an edgy look and the button holes were flowers made from superhero comics (I had to let him have superheroes somehow)!”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
I honestly have never felt such a rush of love ever! Our eyes didn’t unlock the whole time, and it was incredible how much I relaxed the second I got to stand next to him and hold his hand. It just felt right to be stood next to my best friend.
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
My bridesmaids were my two younger sisters. I again didn’t want to stick with tradition so had them in dresses I knew they wouldn’t get a chance to wear otherwise! They were in floor length rose-gold sequins that I bought online. I could not have been luckier, as the quality was amazing and the girls looked absolutely stunning!
What was your theme?
We are both from an entertainment and performance background, so everything had to be just fabulous! ‘Formal but fun’ was our theme, and the venue has such eclectic decor that it themed itself and became one giant photobooth!
What was the highlight of your day?
The whole day! We can honestly say we loved every single second of it and would do it all over again if we could! Of course, the moment they pronounced us man and wife is so hard to describe – there is no feeling like it!
What was your best buy?
Our wedding cake! Our original cake maker was unfortunately taken very ill and was unable to complete our cake, so my wonderful mother came to the rescue. She bought four individual cakes from M&S that could be tiered, and decorated them simply with some ribbon and a few flowers, which was perfect.
What’s your best wedding planning tip?
Remember the day is about you and your partner. Don’t do things to please your family or guests, just make sure YOU are truly 100% happy!
