Proof that no matter what time of year you wed, you can have the perfect day! Bride Simone reveals all about her spectacular, crisp, white winter wedding…
How did Andrew propose?
“We went to Ibiza on holiday in September 2015. Andrew had booked a private speed boat tour around San Antonio Bay with unlimited alcohol and our own music playing. The captain made sure we got back to the famous spot on the water in the Bay where the sunset was at its best. We got there in perfect timing and I didn’t notice at the time but Andrew had selected a certain song and then asked the captain to ‘take a photo’ of us on the back of the speed boat. Little did I know, the captain was actually filming, and mid sunset, Andrew got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was so surreal and the most perfect, amazing experience. If it wasn’t on film, I would have thought I’d dreamed it!”
What dress did you wear?
“I thought I would have a fitted lace dress with a train, but when Anna at Bodice & Bustle bought out an A-line lace dress with a full skirt from Ellis Bridals, I instantly fell in love. I put the dress on and felt butterflies in my stomach and knew it was the one. I never thought a dress would make you feel that way but it really did, you just know.”
And the accessories?
“I bought my accessories from Bodice & Bustle. I had teardrop earrings and a lace and gem headpiece, which went perfectly with my long veil with Swarovski crystals dotted all over it.”
What did Andrew wear?
“Andrew decided he wanted a dark blue suit and a bow tie that matched. He had pastel buttonholes to match the theme so it looked lovely. He really did look amazing.”
What dresses did your bridesmaids wear?
“I had five bridesmaids and they all wore mint maxi dresses from Chi Chi London. They had lace at the top and then had floaty skirts that went out from the waist. They all looked so beautiful!”
What was your theme?
“We made so many things ourselves – from the favours to the table seating plan and the name place cards. Even putting photo frames with photos of us around the venue and little signs up around the main house. We put so much effort into making things and it paid off. It made the day more personal and exactly what we wanted. Ebay was great for the card and gemstone!”
