A stunning West Country wedding in September with an exotic Indian twist. Suzi shares all…
How did Phiroze propose?
“Phiroze proposed to me on our second anniversary on 4th December 2014 in Goa, India. He found some secluded land by the sea and drafted in a company to erect awnings and lights to make it look romantic and private. We were driven to the venue in a car decorated with lilies and roses and had a wonderful three-course meal whilst serenaded by a trio of musicians. We got up to dance when Phiroze turned me to face the water and a boat was driving by displaying the words ‘marry me’ in lights. He knelt down and produced a ring box!”
What dress did you wear?
“I had my heart set on having a Pronovias design ever since I was a teenager. I looked up Pronovias stockists near Dorset and, after reading the reviews on Brides of Winchester, I booked my appointment to fall on my birthday. I can quite honestly say that it was the best birthday ever! As soon as I walked in with my parents, Hayley & Laura put us at ease, made us feel very comfortable and not pressured. As soon as I put on Laren by Pronovias, I knew it was the one. It was everything I had dreamed of, and was picked by Hayley!”
And the accessories?
“My ‘something new’ items were a beautiful Helen Martin veil and Ivory & Co’s Jasmine tiara. My ‘something blue’ was my beautiful Manolo Blahnik Hangisi shoes.”
What did Phiroze wear?
“Phiroze and the groomsmen wore traditional morning suits hired from Young’s Hire.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“I was so happy to see Phiroze as I walked around the pews and up the aisle towards him. He looked so handsome in his suit and his beaming smile told me that he was equally happy with what he saw.”
Who were your bridesmaids and where were their dresses from?
“I had two of my best friends as my maids of honour and two close family friends as my other bridesmaids. They wore beautiful purple and gold saris from India with elephant brooches added.”
What was your theme?
“We opted for a ‘traditionally English with an Indian twist’ theme as Phiroze is half-Indian. We came up with our colour scheme with our florist based on our favourite combinations – purple, pink, cream, gold, silver and a touch of turquoise.”
