A grand and glamorous springtime real wedding with a breathtaking venue in Reading. Bride Leah tells us her story…
How did Mike propose?
“We had booked a luxury holiday after saving for a year to buy our first home. On the last night after a candlelit dinner, we watched the sun set and headed back to our room, where he had arranged for rose petals to be spread across the room with candles and Champagne. As I turned around he was on one knee with a ring.”
What dress did you wear?
“I wore Audacious by Nicola Anne and purchased my dress from Brides Of Winchester.”
And the accessories?
“I wore a crystal belt by Lily Bella, a pearl and crystal hair comb from Lily in White at Etsy, Jenny Packham shoes, and a crystal and pearl-drop earring and necklace set from Brides of Winchester.”
What did Mike wear?
“A silver-grey two-piece suit from Next, with a Dessy Collection waistcoat, tie, pocket square and socks to match the bridesmaid dresses in Ocean Blue.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“When it was time for me to walk, my feet wouldn’t move, but as soon as I saw Mike I practically ran down the aisle with my dad having to slow me down! I felt completely at ease and really excited. Everyone in the room was a blur, all I could see was him.”
Who were your bridesmaids and where were their dresses from?
“I asked my sister Katie to be my maid of honour and Mike’s younger sister Carly to be my bridesmaid. They wore similar, but not exactly matching, dresses from Dessy in Ocean Blue.”
What was your theme?
“We didn’t have a specific theme, more a simple, elegant style. We both like the modern look with clean, crisp lines and simplicity. We added a touch of glam with silver accents, mirrors, colour co-ordinating crystals and table accessories.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“If we had to narrow something down, it would have to be the speeches! From my dad getting his guitar case out having the whole room on edge as to what was about to happen next, to the best men, both making us laugh, cry and cringe all at once.”
What was your best buy?
“The best buy was by far the venue – Wasing Park. It was everything we could have ever wanted and needed. The venue, the staff, the location – all perfect.”
