Gin-lovers rejoice! There’s a brand new mobile gin bar in town, which is perfect for serving your guests delicious cocktails at your wedding reception…
Get the tonic ready! The New World Trading Company, the name behind famous quirky cocktail bars like The Botanist, The Oast House and The Trading House, have introduced their first mobile bar: The Wanderer!
This aptly-named mobile bar started life as a Citroen HY van, but is now a fully working bar, serving a wide range of curious cocktails and world ale, giving guests a chance to discover its award-winning experience on the road. The Wanderer can journey around the UK, and will arrive complete with The New World Trading Company’s famous bar experts, a multitude of unique spirits, craft beers and mixers. Cocktails will be The Wanderer’s main appeal and those who hire it can create a bespoke menu, choosing from a wide array of incredible cocktails and mocktails, with prices starting at £170 per day.
The Wanderer is a particularly good wedding reception pick for gin-lovers, as the bar is sponsored by Plymouth Gin! Plymouth Gin was created in 1793 at the UK’s oldest working gin distillery and its unmistakably smooth, citrus-led flavour comes from the soft Dartmoor water and carefully selected botanicals, which include juniper, sweet orange and cardamom.
Got your mouth watering? Here are couple of gin cocktails that we think would be perfect for your wedding reception!
Mons Meg
- One shot (30ml) Caorunn Gin
- Half a shot (15ml) Farm Apple Shrub*
- Top up (90ml) sparkling wine
- Red apple slice (to garnish)
Keep all your ingredients in the fridge and your glassware in the freezer until you’re ready to serve. Measure and pour the Caorunn and Farm Apple Shrub into a flute and carefully top up with your sparkling wine of choice before adding the finishing touch, a juicy red apple slice to the rim of the glass.
*To make the Farm Apple Shrub
Combine equal parts cloudy apple juice, cider vinegar and heather honey, stirring until the honey dissolves. You can add a little heat to speed up the process, but make sure everything is cooled down before adding to the cocktail. Will keep quite happily in the fridge for at least 3 months.
Lainie
- One shot (30ml) Caorunn Gin
- One shot (30ml) white grapefruit juice
- 10 fresh mint leaves
- Top up (100ml) sparkling cider
- Apple wheel and mint sprig (to garnish)
To serve, fill a highball with cubed ice and the mint leaves (give these a quick smack before you add them to release the fragrant oils), then add the remaining ingredients, pouring the cider slowly so as not to release too many bubbles. Stir gently and garnish.
