Real bride Amy tells us about her beautiful and traditional wedding, combined with a fun and relaxed atmosphere…
How did Dan propose?
“Dan proposed on a hot air balloon in Costa Rica at 6am! It was a cloudy morning and so we very nearly didn’t get to go up in the air balloon. When Dan popped the question at 3,000 feet in the clouds, I was so speechless that he had to remind me to say ‘yes’. A bottle of bubbles appeared out of nowhere in the air balloon. We drove to the coast and finished the trip in a private lodge next to a secluded beach for a few days.”
What dress did you wear?
“I tried on almost 40 different dresses in loads of shops and eventually settled on a lace, beaded, mermaid-shaped dress by Sophia Tolli.”
And the accessories?
“After trying on several pairs of designer shoes I eventually settled on some Debenhams satin shoes for the ceremony as they turned out to fit best! Once we got to the reception, I changed into some silver peep-toe Jimmy Choo shoes. My parents bought me a diamond and pearl necklace as a gift for the wedding, which I teamed with a pearl bracelet that Dan bought me on a holiday. For my ‘something blue’ I wore a topaz ring that belonged to my late Nanny.”
What did Dan wear?
“Dan wore a navy tails suit, a grey waistcoat and a baby-blue tie with white polka dots. He wanted to look formal but modern to fit in with the overall style of the wedding.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“Before the day I was worried about being an emotional wreck walking down the aisle, but when it happened I was just excited to be finally marrying Dan.”
Who were your bridesmaids and where were their dresses from?
“My bridesmaids were my two sisters and two of my closest friends. My oldest friend was my maid of honour. Our nieces were our four mini bridesmaids. The adults wore Jenny Yoo mink multiway dresses from Coco & Kate in Warwickshire.”
What was your theme?
“I wanted a formal wedding contrasted with a fun and relaxed atmosphere. I was excited when I discovered tipis and used Debonair Venue Stylists to create a glamorous and elegant setting inside with peonies and roses, plenty of foliage, metallics and romantic candles – my vision was delivered perfectly!”
