Magical Autumn details and a musical-themed wedding hit all the right notes on this memorable day. Laura shares her story…
How did Lee propose?
“At home! I’d just gone back to the house to pick something up as I was actually off to wrap his Christmas presents! He came down the stairs with the iPad in his hands with a picture of a ring on it and asked me to marry him! Obviously I said yes!”
What dress did you wear?
“I wore the beautiful Saffron by Modeca and I bought it from Icon Bridal in Kettering. I was so pleased I found my dress with them as it’s a truly wonderful shop.”
And the accessories?
“I had a Halo & Co hairband, which my sister and friend bought me for my hen do, but it was perfect for my big day, too! I wore pearl earrings that were my mum’s and a pearl bracelet that two of my bridesmaids bought for me. My shoes were from Gina.”
What did Lee wear?
“A three-piece navy blue suit, which was hired from Warwicks, and a red tie and handkerchief. He also had Star Wars cufflinks – not my idea!”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“Literally the happiest I have ever felt. I couldn’t wait to marry him, I didn’t feel even a bit nervous.”
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
“I had my sister Amy, sister-in-law Lauren, and my closest friends Sarah, Cara and Nikki. I also had a flowergirl – my beautiful niece, Holly. The adult bridesmaid dresses were Maids to Measure, which I bought from Icon Bridal. The flowergirl dress was from TK Maxx, and it was only £20!”
What was your theme?
“Autumnal and musicals. I had Autumnal colours throughout with the bridesmaid dresses and the decorations in the church and hall. Musicals were our table names with our joint favourite, Jersey Boys, being the top table. We then had props on every table for each musical. We also had all of the programmes of the shows we had been to around the room.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“I would say walking down the aisle with my dad to my future husband. I will never forget how I felt. But also having our day our way; we really tried to put ourselves first.”
What was your best buy?
“My dress! It was beautiful and I felt amazing in it. It’s the one thing I didn’t want to worry about the budget as my view was you only get to do it once, so you might as well go for it and feel like a million dollars, which I absolutely did.”
