What better source of inspiration for your wedding music than your favourite movies? Here are some of our favourite wedding songs from films…
‘All I Want Is You’ from Juno
This sweet and upbeat song by Barry Louis Polisar was used to great effect in the quirky opening credits to Juno, but it’s also an ideal wedding song! Seriously, the lyrics are ‘All I want is you, will you be my bride? Take me by the hand and stand by my side’ – perfect!
‘Tale As Old As Time’, from Beauty and the Beast
Of course Disney was always going to get a mention on this list, as they have some of the most romantic love songs going! We predict that this classic will be popular this year thanks to the live-action remake, but we love the Angela Lansbury version for a first dance.
‘Maid Marian’ from Robin Hood
Our own editor Jade walked down the aisle to this one, so you know it has to be good! A beautiful instrumental piece, fans of Bryan Adams will recognise it as the inspiration for Everything I Do.
‘Kissing You’ from Romeo and Juliet
The greatest love story of all time needs a super romantic song to go with it, and ‘Kissing You’ is definitely likely to leave some of your guests in tears. An emotional choice for a processional or first dance song.
‘I Wanna Grow Old With You’ from The Wedding Singer
So this may not be the best performance in the world, but the lyrics Robbie sings as he professes his love for Julia are just right for a wedding. They’d even make good wedding vows!
‘Glasgow Love Theme’ from Love Actually
This stunning instrumental piece from everyone’s favourite Christmas rom-com is ideal for wedding thanks to the lack of lyrics, and the pace makes it the ideal pick for a processional.
‘One Hand, One Heart’ from West Side Story
This musical classic from the 1961 film adaptation of West Side Story is all about Maria and Tony’s make-believe wedding, which makes it a romantic choice for the real thing!
‘A Thousand Years’ from Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2
This love song by Christina Perri was made popular as a wedding song when it was used for Bella and Edward’s wedding during the Twilight series, but we think even non-fans will love the arrangement and lyrics.
