A magical Maui wedding, filled with elegance, romance and sheer joyfulness! Krista reveals all…
How did Kyle propose?
“It was a complete surprise! We were on a vacation in Hawaii, taking a stroll on the beach. He asked someone to take our photograph, and when I turned around he was on one knee. He picked out the ring before we left and everything was perfect.”
What dress did you wear?
“I had my heart set on a mermaid-style dress. At my bridal gown appointment, my best friend saw a dress that I had to try on. It was strapless, taffeta, and a ball-gown shape. It was something I would have never picked out for myself. I tried it on and it was perfect! My dress was Wtoo by Watters, purchased from the Bridal Galley in New West Minister near Vancouver.”
And the accessories?
“I wore a veil, belt, Badgley Mischka wedge shoes and a flower hair piece made by my best friend.”
What did Kyle wear?
“Kyle wore a slim-fit grey suit from RW & CO, with a silk tie and brown shoes.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“I was a bit nervous earlier in the day but as soon as I saw him, the nerves went away. I felt so happy and excited it was very overwhelming.”
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
“My maid of honour was my sister, Lisa, and my bridesmaid was my best friend, Jesilyn. They wore belted chiffon maxi dresses by Eliza J that we purchased from Nordstrom, Seattle. The pale pink and soft flowers gave off the romantic vibe.”
What was your theme?
“My colours were blush and gold. If I had to describe my theme it would be tropical, elegant, and romantic. I created the theme with my wedding planner Lori Lawrence from Tropical Maui Weddings.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“The highlight of my day was near the end of the night. We had all our guests out on the dancefloor for the last song, and seeing everyone who had travelled to be there for us was so special. It was the most incredible night.”
What was your best buy?
“I wore a necklace and earrings set that I had purchased from Le Chateau in Vancouver, and I got it for less than $50.”
What is your saving tip?
“Incorporate less expensive pieces into your look. You don’t have to spend a lot to look beautiful on your day.”
