A fabulous floral wedding with romantic red roses and a touch of glamour. Real bride Claire shares her story…
How did James propose?
“We were away on the beautiful Caribbean island of St. Vincent for our three -year anniversary. A week into the holiday, I was surprised with a romantic meal on the beach, just the two of us. There were flowers decorating the table, flames surrounding us and a view over the bay to die for. After the meal, James got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.”
What dress did you wear?
“I wore a dress by Maggie Sottero from Morgan Davies Bridal in Hitchin. It was the first dress I tried on and the only one that made my mum cry. I tried every shape and style there was but nothing compared to this dress. It was the one!”
And the accessories?
“James gave me my gorgeous drop earrings on the morning of our wedding. My side tiara and earrings were both from Vintage Styler and my bracelet was from Swarovski. My sparkly gold shoes were by Sarah Jessica Parker.”
What did James wear?
“James wore a grey, tailed suit by Wilvorst with an ivory and gold patterned waistcoat and a gold cravat to match my bridesmaids. He had a single red rose as a buttonhole, which matched my bouquet. The suit was from HRH Holmes and Son in Hitchin.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“It was the best feeling in the world! I was bursting with happiness and pride. My dad was on my arm and James was waiting for me at the end of the aisle. I was so excited I could have ran! He looked so handsome and I couldn’t wait to stand next to him and marry him.”
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
“My bridesmaids were my two best friends, Becca and Jo. They are my lifelong friends and held everything together for me. They wore beautiful gold sequin dresses by Sorella Vita and looked absolutely stunning. I couldn’t stop looking at them!”
What was your theme?
“Our theme was based around red roses. My nana and my mum had these as their wedding flowers, so it was really important to me to have them as well. With our wedding stylist Lauradana, we created a mixture of vintage and classic styles to create our theme.”
