We asked our gorgeous real brides what their best wedding buys were – here’s what they said their money was best spent on!
“It was important to us that our guests felt relaxed, which is why we loved our venue, Leez Priory, and all its different rooms. Our elderly guests could relax in one room if they needed to get away from the bar area, and prams could be put in another with sleeping children if necessary.” Kerry
“The best thing that we bought was our wedding video from Shoot It Yourself. This company is amazing! They send you professional cameras, your friends and family film your wedding for you, you send the cameras back and then they edit the best wedding video for you! We have watched it so many times already and cherish it so much.” Emily
“The venue, as my sister is one of the founders and dressed it beautifully for us without any additional cost. Also I think photography is incredible value, even if it is a big investment.” Laura
“My favourite items were the little teacups on the table with the cupcakes in by Clare’s Cupcakes. They were beautifully decorated with pearls, lace, flowers and butterflies and they tasted amazing, too!” Chloe
“We rented a self-drive red Jaguar E-Type. Matt had always wanted the opportunity to drive one and we thought, if not now, when? It really did look gorgeous – even if squashing my dress into the passenger seat wasn’t the easiest!” Jodie
“My dress! I also loved our little personalised silver confetti on the tables. The flip flops went down well, too – by the end of the night, most of the ladies were wearing them saving their sore feet so they could dance all night!” Sunny
“I made a lot of things myself, but we really enjoyed the instant camera guest book. I bought a Fujifilm instant camera from ebay, a load of film and a guest book from Paperchase in a sale then left it for guests to play with. It was brilliant seeing people snap themselves or each other then stick the photos in the book with captions, messages or even a limerick. Seeing photos at the start then after a few drinks coming back was really funny!” Kat
“Mini milk bottles from eBay that we used for our drinks with yellow paper straws. They gave a vintage look to the tables and looked great alongside the larger glass milk bottles.” Alice
“Definitely the flowers! Guests commented on how they had never seen such beautiful flowers than the ones in our bouquets and on the table. They were bought from Belles Floral Boutique in Newark at a very reasonable price.” Jacqueline
“Definitely Studio 1208 for our photography and videography. Sadly, very shortly after our wedding we lost someone very close to us and our wedding pictures and video hold a whole new significance to us both now that he is gone. We can look back and see him, and be reminded of how happy and proud he was on our special day.” Alice
“My best buy was my cake, as it was made of cheese and doubled up as a dessert. Nothing went to waste and everyone says what a good idea it was.” Larissa
“We love gin, and so do most of our friends, so we decided to make a range of different flavours of gin (and a few vodkas) as wedding favours. I made little thank you labels and we filled small glass bottles up with the different flavours. Our guests loved them!” Melissa
