We catch up with the sumptuous designs from bridal label Elena Ferrara for the inside track on this gorgeous brand and latest collection…
Elena, tell us a little bit about you!
With a mixed Mediterranean heritage, I come from a family of very skilled tailors and dress makers so it was inevitable that I too was going to follow this creative path. I have always been artistic, sewing from a very young age and throughout school. After finishing with a degree in fashion design I worked both in and out of the creative industry, ultimately finding my calling within the bridal industry. But it wasn’t until I had a family of my own that I knew that the time was right to follow my dreams and create my bridal dress label Elena Ferrara.
What makes Elena Ferrara gowns unique?
All the dresses are designed and handmade here in England, using only the highest quality fabrics and delicate laces. We create each dress pattern, in house, by blending timeless classic tailoring with modern lines. We are obsessed with beautiful fabrics, constantly finding ways to incorporate new textures into our designs by enriching sumptuous fabrics with delicate hand beading and embroidery. We aim to create beautiful iconic dresses that hold the test of time and will not falter with fashion trends.
Why should brides choose Elena Ferrara?
As perfectionists, with an eye for details, Elena Ferrara dresses delivers high quality and great craftsmanship. Each dress incorporates internal corsetry to combine comfort and great fit whilst still being pretty, feminine, and elegant. As each dress is made in house, we pride ourselves on the flexibility that we offer to each bride to make their own gown unique to their personality.
What advice would you give to brides starting their dress search?
Go into a fitting with an open mind and try on a wide variety of dresses to ensure that you find a style that suits your body shape. Take your most trusted friend with you, someone who will be completely honest, and don’t be afraid to say no.
What is your bestselling gown and why?
Iona from the simplicity collection is very popular due to the delicate floral details on the back. As each dress is handmade to order, the floral back changes slightly, so each bride has a unique dress to the next. The Callie skirt and the Sienna lace topper (separates collection) sell well too; brides love the fun modern aspect where they can play with mixing up their bridal style.
Was can we expect from Elena Ferrara next?
The next two collections are currently in the process of being made as we speak, moving the label into a new direction, which stays true to the Elena Ferrara ethos for the modern bride. Think delicate details, layered textures, over sumptuous fabrics, combined with slick silhouettes.
