A perfectly purple theme and a stunning gown for a countryside wedding. Nasreen tells her story…
How did Ray propose?
“Ray proposed on our seven-year anniversary at the Savoy Hotel in London. I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and he gave me a Hogwarts pocket watch, which I was incredibly excited about, even before I knew what else was coming. Once I opened it, I discovered the ring – which he’d had made bespoke and was a part of creating the design for – hidden inside. He asked me to marry him and I, of course, said yes.”
What dress did you wear?
“My dress was Jenny by David Tutera for Mon Cheri and I purchased it from The Bridal Shop, Romford. When I went into the store all the girls were so lovely and made me feel really comfortable within the first few minutes.”
And the accessories?
“When it came to my accessories, I chose items that were quite simple yet elegant as I didn’t want to detract from the dress. I was going for an old glamorous feel. My diamond stud earrings were from Beaverbrooks, and I wore a pearl and diamond bracelet that Ray had bought me as a birthday present a few years back. I also wore a diamanté hairband by Jenny Packham.”
What did Ray wear?
“A three-piece suit by Richard James Mayfair. I liked that it wasn’t a traditional colour, it had more of a modern feel.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“After a stressful morning, seeing Ray at the other end of the aisle waiting for me instantly made me feel calm and forget all of the chaos.”
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
“My sister, Delrose, a close friend Sital and one of my childhood friends Annelise. Finding a dress to suit all shapes, heights and bust sizes was very challenging! In the end, I found their dresses from Monsoon. I loved the shade of purple and they received lots of compliments on the day.”
What was your theme?
“We didn’t have a theme aside from the colour purple. Ray let me choose the colour as it’s always been my favourite and I also think he knew I probably wouldn’t change my mind about using it as our colour theme!”
What was the highlight of your day?
“The moment we were announced as husband and wife easily wins! In the nine months leading up to the wedding, we had juggled buying our first home, renovating it and planning our wedding all at once, so it was amazing to complete this chapter and begin our next one together.”
