This intimate wedding in Cambridgeshire was full of beautiful vintage touches. Bride Claire reveals all…
How did he propose?
Bruce proposed at our home, on Christmas day 2015 in front of all of his family. I had no idea – it was a complete surprise. We had a very happy and lively Christmas Day after that!
What dress did you wear?
“I wore a 1920’s-inspired dress from Phase Eight. I looked at hundreds of designer and high street dresses but nothing I found compared to this. When I tried it on it was like it had been made for me, a perfect fit, it didn’t even need any alterations.”
And the accessories?
“Jon Richard silver crystal flower hair comb, crystal teardrop earrings, a crystal bracelet and a Jenny Packham ivory feather clutch bag, all from Debenhams. I also wore ivory shoes by Rachel Simpson, a pale blue feather bolero from BHS, and my Nana’s vintage-style ring she left me for the ‘something old’.”
What did Bruce wear?
A stunning bright blue M&S Autograph three-piece suit, with an emerald green tie and brown boots with blue laces from Dune.
Who were your bridesmaids and where were their dresses from?
We had one flower girl, which was our 5-year-old niece, Eloise. She wore a pink blush dress from Monsoon and some matching shoes from Clarks.
What was your wedding theme and how did you create it?
We didn’t initially have a theme but as the hotel was so glamorous and my dress was 1920’s inspired, we decided to follow the vintage glam theme. This is why we chose feathers for the tables instead of flowers.
What was the highlight of your day?
A particular special moment was when our 16 year old niece Francesca sang ‘How Long Will I Love You’ for our first dance.
What was your best buy?
Definitely my dress, I couldn’t believe I had found such a beautiful dress on the high street.
What’s your saving tip?
Shop around, I used pinterest to get some ideas and then searched online to get the best deal and find what I really wanted.
