A beautiful rustic wedding in Doncaster. Bride Kathryn tells us all about her special day…
How did Adam propose?
“We were on holiday in Las Vegas and Adam booked for us to go in a helicopter to the Grand Canyon and have a packed lunch on Valentine’s Day. We went to feed the wild chipmunks and I turned around to find Adam down on one knee! The other people on the helicopter flight with us cheered!”
What dress did you wear?
“I bought my dress from It’s Bliss in Doncaster, I went with one of my bridesmaids to a sample sale and picked it up!”
And the accessories?
“I wore my grandmother’s blue sapphire ring, a diamanté hair clip from Aldo, a thin silver bracelet that matched my bridesmaids’ gift from H Samuel and my earrings were from Debenhams.”
What did Adam wear?
“We searched online for a style of suit that fitted in with our ideas, and found an eBay shop where you could order from. We ordered one to fit the groom to see first, and from that we decided to order the full set for the groomsmen, too.”
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
“I had three bridesmaids; my friends Holly, Amy and Gemma. We went with the multiway dresses from Debenhams in the grey/silver colour. They gave flexibility for the girls to choose a style that they wanted to wear.”
What was your theme?
“We both liked the rustic theme and I enjoy DIY/craft work, so we decided to do the decorations ourselves. I have a horse so he was able to supply the horse shoes. The jam jars were spray painted or wrapped with twine, which were provided
by friends and family. The theme ended up more metallic than we originally planned but the flowers in the jars softened the look.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“We had a live band in the evening and they were able to play our first dance live! Our first dance was to Feeling Good by Muse. They kept the song upbeat and it sounded amazing. It was a personal song to us as one of our dates was to see Muse live after Adam had won tickets on the radio.”
