This dreamy wedding in Italy has us in awe! Real bride Hannah tells her story…
How did Carl propose?
“It was a complete surprise! I had been out celebrating a friend’s birthday and came home a little later than expected. Unbeknownst to me, after Carl had dropped me to the party, he had stopped off to visit my parents and asked their permission to ask me to marry him! When I woke up the next day, Carl had left cards for me. Behind each card was a clue, which I followed all around the house until I eventually got downstairs. I lifted what I thought was the last clue and it said ‘don’t panic, false alarm, I just wanted you to get up to make me a drink’! I shouted up to him and said something like ‘I thought this was really it!’.He asked me to make him a cup of tea, so I laughed, reached for the tea, and there was a box with a perfect diamond ring inside for me. I cried!”
What dress did you wear?
“My youngest sister and I were at a wedding fayre and both fell in love with my wedding dress on a mannequin. A few weeks later I contacted Rebecca Jayne Bridal and made an appointment. I explained I had loved the dress on the mannequin and the staff helped me choose a few others saving the one we loved until last and that was it! It was by Sottero & Midgley called Stella.”
And the accessories?
“I wore a veil and headpiece from the bridal shop and my jewellery was my something borrowed from my mum and dad.”
What did Carl wear?
“Carl and the best man wore navy Hugo Boss suits.”
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
“We eloped with just my youngest sister Rosie (bridesmaid) and Carl’s best friend Craig (best man) who are also a couple. Rosie’s dress was bespoke by Lora Chilton.”
What was your theme?
“We both wanted our wedding to be timeless and classic. I wanted the colour scheme to be gold, sparkly and fairytale, so I tried to incorporate ‘once upon a time’ through our stationery, wedding reading and the colours.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“To be honest it’s so hard to say just one highlight because we loved the whole day, but the ceremony was beautiful and then going on a boat across Lake Como was just dreamy!”
