A warm, cosy winter wedding with glamorous red and gold hues. Bride Farrah reveals all…
How did Paul propose?
“We were hiking in the Drakensberg mountains in South Africa where I am originally from. Paul suddenly stopped at a kissing gate and turned around holding out the most beautiful ring I had ever seen.”
What dress did you wear?
“I only had to go to two bridal shops before finding the one! I had tried on a lot of lace at Bell’amore in Bexleyheath, Kent, but then when I put the Ronald Joyce dress on it was like I lit up. The satin was beautiful with just the right amount of embellishment at the hip and neck. It made me feel truly beautiful.”
And the accessories?
“I wanted my hair up to show off the neckline of the dress. I wore a hair clip from Debenhams, which was just the right size, giving a little sparkle. My veil was made by bridesmaid and best friend – wedding dress designer, Phoebe Stockman. She had put small crystals on the veil that caught the light perfectly. I had my mother’s antique watch as my something borrowed, my earrings were my own, and my shoes were from Dune.”
What did Paul wear?
“Paul wanted a traditional look and so decided on a morning suit from Moss Bros. When looking at the colours we decided on gold and red to add warmth on the cold winter’s day.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“As I walked through the door, I remember thinking that I didn’t want to look at him for fear of welling up. I had both Mum and Dad walking me down the aisle so I drew on their strength and looked up. He slowly smiled at me and I felt a calm. He looked so handsome.”
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
“When I was thinking about bridesmaids, it was an easy decision! I wanted my two best friends – Phoebe and Carolann. I also had Paul’s niece Ellie as our flowergirl. Their gold sequin dresses were from Quiz as I wanted to reflect the warm candlelight in the room.”
What was your theme?
“The theme was a glamorous winter wedding with gold and red. We asked the guests to come in black tie to add to the glamour, and I wanted lots of candles and warm reflections in the main room to give a cosy warm feeling.”
What was your best buy?
“I wanted the bridesmaids to wear beautiful evening dresses, but they also needed to be warm! We searched for something that would complement the dresses and keep the look sophisticated. We found the fur wraps from Coast, and they were on a special offer!”
