We’re totally smitten with this wow-factor wedding in Scotland! Real bride Ruth shares the details…
How did David propose?
“On holiday in Parga, Greece. We had just polished off our welcome drink at the hotel bar and he popped the question just as we were unpacking in our room. He later told me he’d been freaking out ever since he mistakenly thought he had set off the security scanners at Manchester airport with the beautiful engagement ring in his wallet, but it was actually his Ipad!”
What dress did you wear?
“Alix by Ronald Joyce. I instantly fell in love when I spotted it on a rail at The National Wedding Show in Manchester! My mother kindly bought it there and then for me because it was in the new collection and wouldn’t have been ready in time if I’d left it later!”
And the accessories?
“My beautiful bridesmaids surprised me with gorgeous diamond studs from Rox on our wedding morning, and I felt honoured when Dave’s mum asked if I would mind wearing her mother’s gorgeous antique Australian opal ring. My champagne-coloured shoes were from Dune. And my two-tier antique white cathedral veil was from Because I love You Bridal in Farnworth.”
What did David wear?
“He went for a black slim-fit suit from Hugo Boss, with a white shirt and black dickie bow. Very James Bond – he looked so handsome!”
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
“My two sisters and five of my best friends. They looked stunning in the powder blue maxi dresses from Chi Chi London. I also had my 11-year-old second cousin as a junior bridesmaid. I got her dress from Monsoon. Dave’s adorable seven-year-old niece was our flowergirl, who also wore a dress from Monsoon.”
What was your theme?
“It was a mix of everything – classic with a touch of glitz and vintage. We knew that we didn’t want to go too mad on props, after all, our wedding was about us celebrating with our closest family and friends. The stunning natural surroundings meant it didn’t take much for us to create the perfect day.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“Marrying my soulmate and being surrounded by our family and friends. I don’t think I stopped smiling!”
