We love a good black tie wedding, and this traditional celebration ticks all our style boxes! Bride Davina reveals more…
How did Chris propose?
“Chris proposed on holiday in Florence, Italy. When we arrived at our hotel, we had this beautiful view of the city from our window. He told me to look out and put my hands out wide for a photo. I did, and after waiting some time for a ‘click’, he told me my left hand looked bare. I turned and he was on one knee. I didn’t cry. I was too shocked!”
What dress did you wear?
“I wore a Pronovias gown called Balar, bought from our local wedding shop in Brentwood called Matchmaker. They were brilliant. Personal, warm and friendly. They knew that being a petite bride, I needed something fitted, not too fussy and simple. I loved it!”
And the accessories?
“I had a simple faux silk cathedral veil from Richard Designs. To make it special, I teamed it with a vintage style hair piece I fell in love with from Liberty in Love.”
What did Chris wear?
“Chris wore a custom fit Hugo Boss tuxedo with a velvet waistcoat and Hugo Boss shoes. His groomsmen wore classic tuxedos from Anthony Formal Wear in Billericay.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“I felt unbelievably happy and moved to see him emotional. I spent months worrying that I would be too sad myself as my dad had passed away a year before. However, when I got to the moment, I never felt happiness like it.”
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
“My bridesmaids were my oldest and closest friends from school – Sasha and Danielle. At school, we were thick as thieves! They wore Dessy dresses, also ordered from Matchmaker. I couldn’t resist the dove grey and the Grecian style!”
What was your theme?
“We stuck to classic, neutral colours as our theme: black, ivory, grey and gold. We centred it around the idea of a classic tuxedo. Our first dance – When I Fall in Love by Nat King Cole – summarised the old school, simple, classy feel we wanted.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“The speeches. I hadn’t cried all day because I was on a high, but when Chris spoke about my dad, and so well, I felt unbelievably touched and in awe. I’ve never heard a speech like it. He managed to move everyone in the room to tears and laughter so comfortably and with ease. All the speeches were fantastic.”
