Feeling inspired after the Oscars last night? Here’s how to create a Hollywood wedding theme fit for the A-list…
Have a red carpet
It’s not the Oscars without a red carpet! Adding this small touch to the entrance of your wedding ceremony is the perfect way to make your guests feel like stars – especially if you have your photographer acting at the paparazzi and taking photos of everyone as they arrive.
Send golden envelopes
For a real Oscars feel to your wedding invitations, send them in those famous gold envelopes! For an even more luxe effect, seal them with a customised red wax seal – you can buy sets online, or from craft shops like Hobbycraft.
Name your tables
There are plenty of fun table name options when it comes to a Hollywood wedding theme! You could name them after Oscar-winning films, and use the movie posters as a fun centrepiece decoration, or after the Oscars characters. For an even more romantic take on Hollywood, name them after famous on-screen couples, either fictional or real-life (e.g. Humphrey Bogard & Lauren Bacall, or Johnny & Baby).
Give your guests awards
It’s always fun to give personalised awards, and the reception is the perfect time to present your nearest and dearest with some tokens of your appreciation. Awards such as ‘Most Patient Maid of Honour’ and ‘Cutest Page Boy’ are perfect for giving out during the speeches, and you can also make some for the guests, such as ‘Best Dressed’ and ‘Best Dance Moves’. If you’d rather not single people out, then you could use awards as centrepieces or balloon weights on the tables.
Give goodie bags
The Oscars goodie bags are famous for being packed with luxury swag, but we’re not suggesting you give your guests bottles of Bollinger and Rolex watches. Instead, put together your own little pack of favours for guests to take away in a personalised gift bags. Items that won’t break the bank include individual chocolate truffles, champagne bottle bubbles and lip balm.
Dress the part
If you’re having a Hollywood wedding theme, it makes sense to embrace red carpet glamour! Choose full-length evening gowns for your bridesmaids, in glam shades such as red, black or metallic sequins, and dress your groomsmen up to the nines in black tuxes with bow-ties.
