Tea-length wedding dresses are definitely having a moment! They’re flirty, flattering, and can make a bride really stand out from the crowd. We’ve picked some of our favourite tea-length styles from Special Day…
You may have never considered a tea-length wedding dress before, but with shorter styles appearing in more and more bridal collections in recent years, there’s no denying that they’re having a moment!
Defined as a gown that falls around 3 to 4 inches below the knee, tea-length is a fabulously flattering style for brides who want to feel elegant whilst still being able to move and dance. If you’re worried about feeling swamped in a full-length style, don’t usually wear dresses, or love the retro style of 1950s brides, then a tea-length gown could be for you! Here are just some of the ways you can style it:
Pop of colour
Tea-length wedding dresses look fabulous when paired with a fun pop of colour. The shorter, full skirt means that they’re the perfect pick to show off a colourful petticoat or a statement pair of shoes, and wearing a bright or pastel belt is a great way to highlight your waist. You could also go monochrome, like the stylish black and white E16603 from Special Day.
Balance out the shorter skirt with longer sleeves, and you’ll have a seriously elegant bridal look on your hands. You can either look for a style with sheer illusion sleeves, like Style E17828 from Special Day’s European Collection, or you can pop a three-quarter length or long-sleeved bolero or cardigan on top of your chosen style.
We love the look of tea-length gowns in retro satin or Mikado, but lace gives the whole look a much more romantic feel. A scalloped lace neckline and full lace skirt such that of Style C17108 will give your gown the impact of a full-length style without swamping a more petite bride, and a sheer lace overlay with capped sleeves gives a retro style a more modern twist.
