We adore this gorgeous September wedding and the bride’s beautiful bespoke dress. Daniella tells her story…
How did Ben propose?
“In 2014 I was a bridesmaid for my cousin in Australia. We had a few nights stopover in Hong Kong on the way home from the wedding. One evening we ate in Ming Court restaurant inside the hotel, then headed for drinks on the 4th floor terrace garden. There, Ben got down on one knee under the stars.”
What dress did you wear?
“My parents have been friends with Mark and Lesley of Mark Lesley Bridalwear for over 20 years. Thanks to the special friendship, I was lucky enough to work closely with the designers to create my dream dress from start to finish. There aren’t many brides who are fortunate enough to do this and I really did get my dream dress. It was detailed with long sleeves, lots of appliqué, lace and pearl buttons from the top of my back down to my bottom and a long train.”
And the accessories?
“I wore white gold diamond drop earrings from Beaverbrooks; a gift from my parents. Ben left a gift with my chief bridesmaid, which I opened the night before the wedding – a beautiful diamond Tiffany bracelet.”
What did Ben wear?
“Ben used the personal tailor services of Reiss in Nottingham and with great help from Adam, his PT assistant, Ben designed his gorgeous three-piece suit. He picked everything from the material to the stitching – he had our names and the wedding date sewn inside his jacket. He also wore a Hugo Boss shirt with a satin bow tie and pocket square by Dessy.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“I was excited to see Ben and I was excited for him to see me. Walking down the aisle my dad kept telling me to slow down!”
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
“I had 6 bridesmaids: my chief bridesmaid Lauren, then Chantel, Olivia, Ally, and flowergirls Evie and Lucy. The adults wore full-length dresses by Dessy. I chose Dessy because they offer a full colour match for the men, which was prefect for kitting out the groomsmen. The little ones wore John Lewis dresses.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“Family is important to us both, and we would have given anything for the family who have passed away to be there, so for us being able to share our special day with the rest of our family and friends meant a lot and we were overwhelmed by their love and kindness. Otherwise, my dad’s speech was cracking – both he and Ben made me very proud.”
