We’re green with envy over Emily and Jake’s glamorous wedding in Christchurch! Bride Emily reveals all about their beautiful day…
How did Jake propose?
“Jake came home from work one day with a balloon for our son. He popped the balloon, out fell a ring and he got down on one knee! I always wanted to be caught off guard and I wasn’t expecting a thing, which made it perfect.”
What dress did you wear?
“I had been to a few bridal shops but couldn’t seem to find my perfect dress anywhere. I went to Brides of Winchester and explained in more detail what I had in mind and the lovely ladies made me feel so comfortable – nothing was too much trouble! I ended up trying two dresses on top of each other, and picking parts from each gown as well as adding my own ideas to create my dream dress – a bespoke Chanticleer gown. I was so nervous to see the final creation, but as soon as I saw it hanging in the beautiful dressing room, I knew it was perfect. Exactly what I had pictured.”
And the accessories?
“My mum made my veil, which I will cherish forever, Jake bought me a beautiful pair of statement earrings as a wedding gift, and my sister made me a stunning accessory for my bouquet.”
What did Jake wear?
“A grey suit from Marks & Spencer with an emerald green bow tie and pocket square.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“As I walked up the aisle I had the biggest smile on my face. Jake didn’t turn around until I was about half way down the aisle and as soon as I saw his face my smile got bigger!”
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
“I had two bridesmaids – my sister who was my maid of honour, and my best and oldest friend. Their dresses were from Debenhams.”
What was your theme?
“We just wanted a relaxed, classic day with plenty of our favourite things – food, drinks and lots of laughs! I wanted to inject a bit of glam so used gold and copper tones to stand out from the neutral backdrop of the marquee and the white and green flowers.”
What was your best buy?
“The best thing that we bought was our wedding video from Shoot It Yourself. This company is amazing! They send you professional cameras, your friends and family film your wedding for you, you send the cameras back and then they edit the best wedding video for you! We have watched it so many times already and cherish it so much.”
