This colourful summer wedding perfectly reflected the couple. Bride Kate tells her story…
How did Ben propose?
“It was my 26th birthday and the first day in our new home. Ben had organised a taxi to pick me up and take me to have a massage and facial in Leamington Spa. When I arrived home later, Ben took me out for lunch. Afterwards, we walked down to the amazing Warwick Castle to have a stroll around. When we got to The Blue Room inside the castle, I noticed there was a table with a bottle of champagne on, and all the tourists were ushered out. Ben then popped the champagne and thanked me for moving so far away from my family and friends for him. He then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.”
What dress did you wear?
“I wore a Mori Lee by Madeline Gardner New York dress, bought from Dobinson’s of Darlington.”
And the accessories?
“My great Auntie Dot gave me a gold locket with a picture of my great grandparents inside; my mother gave me a pair of pearl earrings, and I wore a Tiffany infinity bracelet, which was a gift from Ben. My ‘something blue’ was a blue Links of London friendship bracelet.”
What did Ben wear?
“Ben wore a grey Ted Baker morning suit with a crisp white shirt and a bright orange cravat.”
Who were your bridesmaids and where were their dresses from?
“I chose my sister Laura and Ben’s sister Amy to be my bridesmaids, and my flowergirls were the eldest daughters of my two best friends. Laura and Amy’s dresses were from Maids To Measure, who were brilliant. The flowergirls’ dresses and shoes were from Monsoon.”
What was your theme?
“Ben and I decided we would create a wedding that represented the pair of us. Ben is a car nut, so we had to work out a way to build that into the wedding, and I love flowers and anything bright and cheerful, so we blended the two things together.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“There are too many to choose from, but all of our guests still talk about the day and how much fun they had. We made sure that they were well entertained and fed throughout the day.”
