Fancy an island setting for your big day? Bride Annez shares her beautiful wedding in Gozo…
How did Giorgio propose?
“We were on holiday in New York and the trip was about to come to an end. We had already had a pretty amazing day – we walked the Brooklyn Bridge, had lunch at a lobster bar, visited the pop up Friends 20th anniversary Central Perk and then headed up to the top of the Empire State Building. To my delight Giorgio took out a small ring box as we watched the sun set over the New York skyline. He produced an £8 ring from Amazon as the ring he’d bought me didn’t arrive in time for our trip! I was over the moon.”
What dress did you wear?
“I decided to have a bespoke wedding dress made. I found Rowan Joy at The Vintage Wedding Fayre in Edinburgh. The lace I chose was pinned on a mannequin at the entrance of the studio and I fell in love with it. Rowan was so helpful and creative throughout the whole process. She took the time to discuss ideas with me. Although it was difficult not knowing exactly what the final result would be, I was elated with the dress and loved wearing it!”
And the accessories?
“My shoes were by Rachel Simpson and I wore a gold pearl and diamond bracelet that belonged to my mum. I have lots of memories of her wearing the set when she was dressed to go out, so I knew for a long time I wanted to wear it on my wedding day.”
What did Giorgio wear?
“A navy three-piece suit from Hugo Boss. He wore tan brogues from Russell & Bromley with a matching belt. His tie and pocket square were from Swagger & Swoon.
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“After being very nervous during the car journey on the way to the venue, seeing Giorgio standing at the end of the aisle waiting on me made me feel calm. He looked very handsome in his suit.”
Who were your bridesmaids?
“I had four bridesmaids –my sister and best friend Aimee, who was my Maid of Honour, then my best friends Sarah, Megan and Andrea.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“It has to be sitting down at our wedding table with my husband and looking out onto the happy faces of all our special guests enjoying their food, wine and the beautiful location.”
What’s your saving tip?
“Try to utilise the skills you have. Giorgio made all the wedding stationery himself.”
